A Note From Secretary Howe
In North Dakota we want to make sure that all qualified voters have the chance to vote, so we provide the option to vote absentee without requiring a reason. You may be out of town for a trip on election day, unsure about your work schedule, or find it difficult to get to a polling location. Absentee voting allows you to cast your ballot from home, ensuring your voice is heard.
North Dakotans are never mailed a ballot unless they request one. Voters can enter a few fields in the My Voting Info portal (vote.nd.gov/myvotinginfo) and click the My Absentee/Mail Ballot link at the top of the screen to complete and print an application, which must be signed and submitted to the county auditor. After the auditor receives the application, they will review it for completeness and verify the voter's identification before mailing a ballot.
The next election is always the most important election. If voting absentee is the easiest way for you to vote, apply for your June 9 Primary Ballot now. Absentee ballots must be received by the county auditor by close of polls on Election Day (June 9) to be counted. Check out the How to Vote Absentee video and Returning an Absentee Ballot video in the new toolkit section of this newsletter to learn more about the process.

- Check with your county auditor to see if poll workers are still needed in your area and encourage your members or employees to volunteer if they are interested in serving their community by being involved in the elections process. Find details on our Be a Poll Worker website page.
