Frequently Asked Questions
Which enrollment option should I use?
-
New Enrollment: Use for nearly all scenarios, including new members, returning members and retirees returning to work.
-
Return to Payroll: Use only when a member is returning from a leave of absence, such as military leave or sabbatical.
-
Employment Change: Use when an already enrolled member has a status change, such as moving from part-time to full-time.
-
Termination: When a member retires or resigns at the end of the year, set their termination date as the last day of the fiscal year so contract payouts and other compensation can be reported. If a member retires or resigns mid-year, don't terminate them until all of their salary has been reported to TFFR.
When should new members log in to MyTFFR?
New members should wait until after they have been included in the first payroll cycle and TFFR contributions have been reported before logging in. MyTFFR uses reported contributions to activate a member's account. If a new member tries to log in before contributions are reported, they will receive an error message. Once the first contributions have been posted, the member can log in and complete the enrollment process.
What if a member transfers from another school district?
A new enrollment must be completed when a TFFR member is new to your district, even if they previously worked for another TFFR-covered employer. When you enter the member's Social Security number, MyTFFR should locate their existing account.
What about retirees who return to work?
A new enrollment must be completed each year a TFFR retiree returns to covered employment because the member's position, contract and hours may change. More information on Employing a TFFR Retiree is available on the TFFR Employer webpage and in the Employer Guide, see page 23.
How do I enroll multiple new employees at once?
If you want to upload an Enrollment File, you will need to use your district's payroll software, such as Software Unlimited, to create the file. MyTFFR does not have an option to create an Enrollment File.
