As 2023 winds down and we look back at all that’s happened this year, I am grateful to each of you for your continued partnership and support of North Dakota Housing Finance Agency.
Earlier this year, the Industrial Commission approved changes that would allow us to provide mortgage financing to individuals and families with a higher yearly income. This eliminates barriers, allowing a larger number of households to qualify for our financing. READ MORE

AGENCY MARKS 50,000 FirstHome LOANS
- Homes from 363 communities across North Dakota have been financed through NDHFA's FirstHome program, which provides affordable mortgage loans along with down payment and closing cost assistance to low- to moderate-income households.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS - HOME ARP NON-CONGREGATE SHELTER
- NDHFA is seeking proposals for the acquisition and/or development of Non-Congregate Shelter (NCS) for the HOME American Rescue Plan (HOME-ARP) program.
- A total of $1 million was set-aside for NCS activities.
- Proposals must be submitted and received no later than 5pm central time on December 23, 2023. READ MORE

YWCA CASS CLAY CELEBRATES THE OPENING OF LANTERN LIGHT
-
State and federal funding enabled the purchase of the Presentations Sister's Sacred Heart Convent.
- Will provide homes for 23 families at risk of homelessness, many of them survivors of domestic violence.
- YWCA USA COO Karen Burke said Lantern Light will prepare survivors of domestic violence and homelessness to live their life confidently. READ MORE

CRITICAL FUNDS AWARDED TO SUPPORT HOMELESSNESS INITIATIVES IN NORTH DAKOTA
- NDHFA announced the recipients of grant funding for the federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and the state North Dakota Homeless Grant (NDHG).
- ESG focuses on providing funding for emergency shelters, outreach services, homelessness prevention, and rapid re-housing assistance. NDHFA awarded a total of $570,006.95 to nine agencies.
- NDHG, modeled after ESG, was allocated a total of $2.5 million for the biennium, with $1.25 million available for the first year, and awarded 22 applications with a total distribution of $1.25 million in funding.
- During the most recent legislative session, NDHFA assumed administration of both programs, streamlining government operations to enhance the delivery of vital services. READ MORE
NEW HOUSING RESOURCE RELEASED
- The Vision West ND Housing Committee has released a new resource for providing information about existing housing programs and incentives.
- This resource contains various federal, state, and local initiatives meant to enhance housing access throughout North Dakota, with an emphasis on western North Dakota.

NORTH DAKOTANS CAN APPLY FOR HOME HEATING HELP
- North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) application window for heating assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is open Oct. 2 through May 31, 2024.
- Both homeowners and renters can apply for heating assistance. However, individuals living in subsidized housing or who are receiving housing assistance with their heating costs included in their rent are not eligible for LIHEAP. READ MORE
