A Message from Superintendent Levi Bachmeier & NDCTE Director Wayde Sick
Expanding Career Awareness Through Immersive Career Exploration
We are pleased to share an exciting statewide opportunity to support career awareness for students across North Dakota. Building on the state’s commitment to innovative education and workforce readiness, every K-12 student in North Dakota now has access to immersive field trips through the CareerViewXR platform. These experiences bring real workplaces directly into your classroom, helping students explore a wide range of career possibilities before making critical academic and career decisions.
As the Superintendent of Public Instruction and Director of the Department of Career & Technical Education, we recognize the importance of supporting every student in understanding the vast opportunities that exist within and beyond our state.
To support implementation:
-
Simple instructions for accessing the platform through RUReady.ND.gov are below.
-
A collection of ready-made lesson plans and classroom activities is available from CareerViewXR to assist in incorporating the content.
We encourage you to explore the CareerViewXR platform, incorporate the resources available, and share feedback on how these tools are enhancing career awareness in your school or district. Thank you for your continued dedication to preparing North Dakota students for success.
The Capitol Tablet: Special Session
Welcome to the North Dakota Legislature’s special session! Gov. Kelly Armstrong called the session to have lawmakers decide how to spend $199 million in federal rural health funds, an issue that could not be put off until the 2027 Legislature convenes its regular session on Jan. 5.
Lawmakers will be considering some education-related measures as well, most notably a $65 million proposal to offer K-12 students breakfast and lunch at school—at no charge to them, their parents or guardians—beginning in the 2025-26 school year. Public and charter schools would automatically participate in the meals program, while nonpublic, tribal and Bureau of Indian Education schools could choose whether to take part.
The Legislative Management Committee, which Is made up of Republican and Democratic legislative leaders, has decided which bills will be debated during this week's special session. Other bills may be introduced if two-thirds of the state Senate and House agree to hear them, but that is unlikely to happen.
The session’s hearings and floor sessions will be livestreamed on the Legislature’s website. The special session’s homepage is here. A list of livestreamed hearings and other proceedings is here.
BRIDGE Updates
TieNet-to-Infinite Campus Transition
The BRIDGE team continues to make progress on the transition from TieNet to Infinite Campus and is actively working through the remaining technical and process details needed to support a smooth statewide rollout.
While some technical and operational details are still being finalized, the following assurances are in place:
- The PowerSchool Service Team will work with NDDPI to be able to extract all TieNet data needed for the transition, including:
- Data records
- Finalized forms and documents in PDF format
- In-flight forms and documents (as data)
Although final transition steps are still being developed, planning is aligned around a clear timeline:
- TieNet will be used through the end of the 2025–26 school year.
- Districts should plan to stop using TieNet after June 30, 2026.
- Infinite Campus will go live for special education for the 2026-27 school year.
This timing allows districts to complete all 2025–26 reporting in TieNet and begin the 2026–27 school year fully in Infinite Campus.
The BRIDGE team is continuing to finalize processes and will share additional details and decisions as they are confirmed. Regular updates will be provided so districts can plan, prepare, and train with confidence.
PowerSchool Data Migration Process
Once your district completes a PowerSchool data replication request, NDIT will facilitate backing up and replicating PowerSchool databases to enable the data migration process for Infinite Campus. These replicas are provided to Consultadd, which extracts and transforms the data and delivers it to Infinite Campus. Updated, migrated data is then made available to both Infinite Campus and districts for review and validation. Click here to see the PowerSchool data migration weekly process.
The vast majority of districts have completed their NDIT requests. If your district has not yet done so, please complete your request as soon as possible. Consultadd will be in touch with every district by the end of January to inititiate discussions and further discovery.
Data outside of PowerSchool or TieNet
As districts plan their Infinite Campus implementation, it is important to understand where data designated for migration can originate and the requirements it must meet to be part of data migration. This is not an all-or-nothing decision. The options below can be applied on a case-by-case situation. Communication with Consultadd, your provided data extract vendor, is key to mitigate any risks during Trial and Production conversion.
Option 1: Data Resides in PowerSchool/TIENET
Highly Recommended
Data within PowerSchool/TIENET allows for consistency, repeatability, and is the best path to data integrity for providing data to Consultadd. It greatly reduces the risk for "incorrect" data from flowing into the data extracts because there is a single source of truth that is being updated in real-time that can be pulled without required human interaction.
Requirements: Validation of data extracts from Consultadd. Work with Consultadd to ensure the correct fields are being pulled. If a field exists in PowerSchool, but does not in the layouts but is necessary, please escalate the request through Consultadd.
Option 2: Data Resides Outside of PowerSchool/TIENET
Data may reside outside of PowerSchool/TIETNET in various forms such as a spreadsheet or word document. If this scenario exists, please follow the requirements to ensure the best path forward is met for your data.
Requirements: The outside source must be communicated to Consultadd for approval, and the district must specify which file layout(s) it applies for migration. The district is then responsible for providing the approved outside source data at a frequency determined by the Consultadd team.
If the data that resides outside of PowerSchool/TIENET includes the following, import tools are part of core tooling of Infinite Campus SIS. Please bring these items to your Infinite Campus team to learn more about best timing for import.
