Teacher Apprenticeships in the Dakotas and Wyoming
Schools nationally are facing pressing teacher shortages. To reduce teacher shortages, nearly all states have launched teacher apprenticeship programs since 2022 to offer a pathway for existing school staff to become fully credentialed teachers.
The Regional Education Laboratory (REL) Central has collaborated with leaders of teacher apprenticeship programs in North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming to summarize information about their programs. They created a factsheet which summarizes the teacher apprenticeship programs in these states, early learning about experiences and outcomes, and areas for future learning.
You can access the fact sheet here.

In previous years, schools only received credit for students marked as ‘Committed.’ This year, you will receive points for both ‘Committed’ (2 points) and ‘Compliant’ (1 point).
Once again, our goal is 95% student participation rate on the survey to help ensure the results best represent the school. Schools will not be penalized if they do not reach the 95% participation goal.
As of Jan. 14, 940 of the 88,820 students have taken the survey (1.05%).
If you have any questions or issues administering the survey, please contact Angie Thomas at (701)-328-2597, or Steve Snow at (701) 328-2236.

New Title I Allocation Process and Release of 2023 Census Data for 2025-26
The U.S. Department of Education (USED) has released the 2023 Census Data for review. The USED uses the 2023 Census data to provide Title I allocations for each state. North Dakota will join 43 other states in using this consistent method to calculate Title I allocations for the 2025-26 school year.
It is IMPORTANT that all districts review this MEMO, which explains the USED method and comprehensive approach to calculating Title I allocations that will be different this year from the past. You will also be able to view the North Dakota Census data and a comparison chart that may help with planning purposes.
NOTE: The broken links within the memo have been corrected. Please click on MEMO to access working links.
