Road and utility improvements continue along the west end of Memorial Highway from Main Street to Titan Machinery, including new storm sewer system installation, aging water main replacement, roadway reconstruction, new traffic signals, street lighting installation, and bike and pedestrian path upgrades.
Concrete and asphalt paving is underway on the westbound lanes throughout the corridor.
Crews are installing permanent traffic signals and lighting at the Main Street intersection, with work continuing through October. The new signal is expected to be operational before winter, replacing the current temporary setup.
Upcoming Traffic Change & Median Work
Beginning in October, outside lanes in each direction will be open as crews complete median work south of Main Street, ending the current head-to-head setup for the season. Median work is expected to wrap up by November.
 Winter Traffic Configuration
Once median work is completed, Memorial Highway will shift to its winter configuration.
- The Main Street section will be completed with permanent concrete pavement, while the portion east along Memorial Highway toward Faulkner's Market will be asphalt until utilities and permanent paving are finished in 2027.
- Five lanes will remain open at normal posted speeds all winter, maintaining access until construction resumes next spring.
 Lift Station Improvements
Lift station construction near McDonald's and Midway Lanes wrapped up for the 2026 season. The lift station structures are installed but will remain inactive until connected to the utility network next year. Once connected, they'll be a key part of the wastewater and stormwater upgrades for the Memorial Highway project.
Crews are installing stormwater pipe beneath 3rd Street and constructing several large stormwater structures to improve drainage throughout the corridor. This work is expected to continue through the remainder of 2026, depending on weather and progress.
Temporary asphalt and traffic control measures, such as reduced speeds, barriers, and pedestrian access restrictions, will remain in the area through the end of November 2026.
Timelines may shift due to weather or other unforeseen delays.
-
October 2026: Traffic reduced to one lane in each direction while crews complete median work.
-
November 2026: Median work finishes and traffic changes to winter configuration.
-
Winter 2026-27: Five lanes of traffic operate at the normal speed limit on Memorial Highway until work resumes in spring 2027.
Access may look different during construction, but all businesses along Memorial Highway remain open.
