Construction on Phase 1 of the Memorial Highway project continues between 32nd Avenue SE and 46th Avenue SE.
Crews are making significant progress on both the east and west ends of the project as roadway improvements, underground utilities and intersection work continue moving forward.
Here’s what’s happening across the project:
- Concrete will be poured in the westbound lanes from both the east and west ends of the project in the coming days
- Construction of the shared use path is taking place along the south side of the roadway
- Storm sewer and watermain installation continues near 40th Avenue SE
Traffic changes continue at the 46th Avenue SE intersection as crews complete the southbound turn lane extension and prepare for additional concrete repairs.
Current impacts include:
- Right (eastbound) turns only onto Memorial Highway
- No left turns from westbound Memorial Highway onto southbound 46th Avenue SE
- Traffic shifted to allow crews to safely complete concrete repairs
Work at the intersection is expected to be completed by next Saturday.
Work at Action Drive continues as crews coordinate utility installation and roadway preparation.
What to expect:
- Continued watermain and storm sewer work
- Temporary traffic shift between the temporary detour and original roadway
- Continued coordination to maintain business access
- Concrete paving in the intersection starts next week
Work in the Action Drive area is expected to be in place for at least two more weeks.
Construction continues on the north side of the Main Street and Memorial Highway/Mandan Avenue intersection and the railroad underpass barrier wall, with work expected to be completed by late June.
Crews have been working on curb, gutter, and sidewalk improvements on the northwest side of the intersection. Next week, work will shift to the raised median.
Work on a new barrier wall at the railroad underpass is also ongoing.
- Westbound Main Street is currently reduced to one lane at the intersection.
- Eastbound Memorial Highway is reduced to one lane and the pedestrian path is closed at the railroad underpass through late June.
- All directions remain open and business access is maintained.
Next week's traffic switch:
Starting next week, Mandan Avenue north of the interchange will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Westbound Main Street will remain reduced to one lane just east of the intersection.
