Construction on Phase 1 of the Memorial Highway project continues along the corridor between 32nd Avenue SE and 46th Avenue SE.
Work is progressing steadily, with underground utilities advancing and paving operations now underway. Crews recently completed the first mainline concrete pour, marking a major milestone for the project.
Here’s what’s happening across the project:
- First mainline concrete pour has been completed on Memorial Highway
- Concrete work at 46th Avenue SE is nearing completion, with a future partial closure needed to complete the extended southbound left-turn lane
- Action Drive work continues, including watermain installation and preparation for storm sewer work
- Watermain and storm sewer inlet installation continue progressing west along the corridor
Traffic patterns continue to shift as work progresses.
Motorists should expect:
- Lane shifts and changing traffic configurations
- Temporary restrictions near active work areas, including 46th Avenue SE and Action Drive
- Ongoing construction activity throughout the corridor
Additional work is planned at the 46th Avenue SE intersection in the coming weeks. More information will be shared as details are finalized.
Utility work continues in the intersection, including watermain installation, with storm sewer work to follow.
What to expect:
- Traffic will continue to shift between the temporary detour and original roadway
- Businesses in the area may experience temporary water service for approximately one week
Work in the Action Drive area is expected to be in place for approximately three to four more weeks.
Construction continues on the north side of the Main Street and Memorial Highway/Mandan Avenue intersection, with work expected to be completed by late June.
Temporary signals are now running at the intersection. Roadway concrete paving begins next week, including curb and gutter installation.
- Westbound Main Street is reduced to one lane on a small portion east of the intersection; a right turn lane remains open. Patterns at the intersection will shift as the work progresses.
- Memorial Highway eastbound is reduced to one lane under the rail bridge for upcoming barrier wall installation work, expected to last through late June.
- The pedestrian path under the railroad bridge on the west end of Memorial Highway is also closed.
- All directions remain open and access to businesses maintained.
Traffic patterns will continue to shift as work progresses.
Barrier wall work on the railroad underpass is set to begin the first weekend of May. Crews will start forming and replacing the slope barrier wall at that time.
