Construction for Phase 1 of the Memorial Highway Project is now underway as crews return to the corridor for the 2026 construction season. Work between 32nd Avenue SE and 46th Avenue SE will continue through this season, with completion anticipated in July 2026.
Early work will focus on underground utilities, followed by roadway paving and intersection improvements later this season.
As work gets underway, drivers should be prepared for:
- Lane shifts and changing traffic patterns
- Temporary lane closures and reduced speeds
- Work at key intersections, including 40th Avenue, 43rd Avenue and 46th Avenue
Access to businesses will be maintained throughout construction, though routes may change. Please watch for posted signage and use caution when traveling through the corridor.
Phase 1 includes:
- Underground utility replacement
- New concrete roadway with curb and gutter
- Intersection improvements and raised medians
- Shared-use path and sidewalk
- Upgraded lighting and traffic signals
Later this spring, construction on Phase 2 of the Memorial Highway project is expected to begin on the west end of the corridor. The two-year project will reconstruct the roadway from the intersection of Main Street and Memorial Highway to 32nd Avenue SE.
Access may look different during construction, but all businesses along Memorial Highway remain open.
