Each month, North Dakota Health and Human Services spotlights a 1915(i) provider to celebrate their contributions and innovative approaches to person-centered care. By sharing their stories, we aim to inspire collaboration, foster continuous improvement and strengthen our community's commitment to delivering high-quality services.
This month, we highlight Beacon of Lighthouse.
-
Tell us a little about your agency's background and the community you serve.
The Beacon of Lighthouse is a proud part of the Lighthouse Churches recovery community. We provide 1915(i) care coordination to those who have a desire to strengthen their mental health and/or addiction recovery and in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
- What values or mission guides your agency's approach to supporting the members you serve?
Our values are to support members by providing respectful, reliable and personalized services that enhance well‑being, promote independence and strengthen their sense of community.
- What do person-centered services mean to your agency and how do you provide it?
Person-centered to us means that we see each person’s recovery like a fingerprint – not one is the same. We know one size does not fit all when it comes to our members’ care. Everyone has unique strengths, needs, desires and so on. We like to empower our members to express what areas they feel strong in and what areas could use a little work. We are sure to create an environment where they feel comfortable enough to share these things by creating rapport right off the bat and using respectful and open communication.
- How long has your agency been providing 1915(i) services and how has your work evolved over time?
The Beacon has been providing 1915(i) services since 2022. We feel the longer we have been working in the program, the more networking we have been able to step into. We have close working relationships with places like Southeast Behavioral Health Clinic, The Ridge, local primary care providers and so on. These working relationships allow us to collaborate effectively as a care team on what the members’ needs are across the board and how each support can be of assistance.
- What positive changes has your agency experienced since the implementation of billing for 1915(i) through Therap?
Billing through Therap has given us easier access to submit claims, see why claims are denied or adjusted and overall gives us quick access to all different types of billing data. It has been a huge time saver.
