Border Patrol expands hours at three North Dakota ports of entry
Hours at three North Dakota ports of entry have been temporarily expanded through July 30, 2023. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) temporarily expanded operating hours at the Maida, Northgate and Sherwood ports of entry in North Dakota.
The points of entry will operate from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m, two additional hours of operation. After July 30 CBP will assess traffic volumes at the ports.
“Northern border communities rely on legal trade and travel between the U.S. and Canada for their livelihoods,” Hoeven, R-N.D., said in a statement. “... CBP and the CBSA reaching (an) agreement on making this temporary extension at Maida, Northgate and Sherwood is a step in the right direction, but more needs to be done.”

Earth Day is April 22
Governor Doug Burgum has proclaimed Saturday, April 22, Earth Day in North Dakota. Earth Day is an opportunity for all North Dakotans to raise awareness of our state’s natural resources and take personal action to help preserve and conserve them for future generations.
Following are a few ideas to help promote responsible travel with our visitors:
- Think before acting with wildlife. Respect their space and their home.
- Leave no trace. Stay on trails and keep our beautiful views how you enjoyed them for others.
- Walk or bike. Park in one of our beautiful downtowns and enjoy a stroll instead of grabbing a ride service.
- Volunteer travel, like helping plant the flowers at the International Peace Garden.
- Pack sustainably like bringing a reusable water bottle.
