 NGA Broadband, Workforce Innovation, and Digital Equity Summit
Commerce Workforce Director Katie Ralston Howe spoke at the National Governors Association (NGA) Broadband, Workforce Innovation, & Digital Equity Summit that was held in New Orleans on June 15-17. As a member of the NGA Workforce Innovation Network, Ralston Howe was invited to serve on a panel about how states are using data to influence strategies for advancing digital equity.

North Dakota is one of 12 states with only one area code, which makes July 1 a day of celebration for everything that makes North Dakota uniquely legendary. To celebrate 701 Day, Commerce Tourism and Marketing created newly themed GIFs and digital stickers that are available through the GIF libraries on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok, and virtual postcards (available Friday, 7/01) that showcase the state’s beautiful landscapes, outdoor adventures, and community experiences.
There is also a Fun in 701 Toolkit, 701 Day graphics and social images, and a link to imagery to help promote the state. Anthony Melchiorri, the host of Travel Channel’s Hotel Impossible, Five Star Secrets, and Extreme Hotels will be speaking at the 2022 Main Street ND Summit.
At the summit, Anthony will help communities and business leaders craft a roadmap to a successful and effective brand by incorporating key principles of hospitality. He will share how reinventing a brand can attract new talent and residents to the communities of North Dakota.
This year’s summit will be held on Oct. 25-26 at the Bismarck Event Center. A pre-summit social is scheduled for Oct. 24, with a location in Bismarck to be determined. For the first time, the summit will be free for all attendees.

Are your summer and fall events and attraction listings included and up-to-date on NDTourism.com? Visitors are making their travel plans and they are searching for things to do, make sure they don’t miss your business, event or community. The North Dakota Tourism and Marketing team also use these listing for social posts, news releases and travel counseling.
Another reason to do your updates now is that work has begun on the 2023 North Dakota Travel Guide and we pull information from the website to be used in the guide. It is vitally important that you update your listing and event amenities through the “Amenities” section of the Portal. If we don’t have this information, visitors looking for specific amenities at attractions, experiences and lodging will not find them.

Commerce and RoleCall hosted a webinar to discuss the state’s comprehensive workforce initiative geared at assisting those interested in relocating to North Dakota.
During a recent immersion tour, community champions from across North Dakota gathered in Bismarck for a training session organized by RoleCall and Commerce’s Workforce Division. At the training, community champions networked amongst each other and were presented information about the refreshed Find the Good Life strategy and the process of recruiting new residents to North Dakota. A total of 60 community champions from communities across the state were selected to assist with the state’s workforce relocation efforts.
