Research shows attending in-person business events are safe
All business travel to meetings, conventions, and events, enable the restoration of highly valuable in-person connections. “Based on the data we’ve seen, attending an in-person event is no riskier—in fact, less risky than essential daily activities,” said Freeman CEO Bob Priest-Heck. “Businesses and organizations want to get back to events for critical commerce, networking, and exchange of ideas. This research provides the framework for doing so safely.”
Key determining factors include attendee vaccination rates, the controllable nature of events, and a correlation between the eagerness of participants to return to events with their willingness to adopt additional health and safety protocols.
Freeman, a global leader in events, has been tracking participant sentiment with over 3 million responses to date. This is the largest industry panel available on attitudes and behaviors related to COVID-19 and in-person business events.
Additional tools and research for conducting safe professional meetings and events (PMEs) are available at www.letsmeetthere.travel.

North Dakota Tourism attended the 52nd Annual US Travel IPW
As the travel industry’s premier international marketplace and largest generator of travel to the United States, this year’s event was smaller but a needed signal of recovery. The announcement of borders beginning to reopen to most international markets was welcome news for travel trade who are ready to get down to business. With Covid-19 still on the mind of travelers, many are looking for places with smaller crowd sizes, wide-open spaces and easy to reach natural beauty and we received many requests for hotel and activity rates for 2022 and 2023 in North Dakota.
North Dakota and the Great American West region expects to see large numbers of travelers in the upcoming years, much due to the continuation of the program during the past 18 months. New itineraries were created for all markets throughout the region, and new hotels and attractions have been added to the list of available options for travel trade to showcase to their clients.
Tourism's overseas offices have continued to keep relationships alive with the media as well, pitching stories of the places, people and events that the travelers from their markets are looking for. Leads for North Dakota trips totaled 38. Most were international leisure buyers and media.

National Hispanic American Heritage Month
The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.
National Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15 – Oct. 15. Why doesn’t it fall on the start of the month you ask? This is because Sept. 15th marks the anniversary for Latin American countries, while Mexico celebrates the 16th, Chile on the 18th and Columbus Day (or Dia de la Raza) on Oct. 12th.
Hispanic and Latino are often used interchangeably, but mean two different things: Hispanic refers to people who speak Spanish or are descended from Spanish speaking populations; and Latino, Latina and Latinx (gender neutral alternative) are geographic terms that refer to a person from Latin America or of Latin American descent.
North Dakota’s Hispanic population has jumped 148% based on the 2020 U.S. Census and recently got a call out on NBC Nightly News as well as CNN.com.
