Step inside Wilson's new ballpark - Ribbon Cutting + Family Day
 |
|
Wilson's new stadium is nearly ready for you -- and this Saturday is your chance to get a first look. Join us at 10 a.m. for a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by an open house where the community is invited to step inside, explore, and experience the stadium up close. There will be tours and the Wilson Warbirds are planning some family fun activities.
As you make your way in, you'll find the stadium just a short, easy walk from nearby parking areas--part of the overall downtown experience that connects the ballpark to the surrounding downtown district.

While the stadium is game-day ready in many ways, you may notice a few finishing touches still underway as the Warbirds prepare for Opening Day. Think of this weekend as a behind-the-scenes preview -- an opportunity to see the progress, build excitement, and be among the first to experience Wilson's newest community gathering place before the season officially begins.
It is the start of something special, and we're excited to welcome you in.
City provides free parking for 2026 season
For the Ribbon Cutting and Family Day, guests are encouraged to park in any downtown public lot, all of which are free of charge. The Water Tower lot at 308 Tarboro Street will serve as a primary option, along with other nearby public spaces. From there, it’s a short and manageable walk into the stadium.
As we look ahead to Opening Day, final touches are being made not just inside the stadium, but across the broader game day experience — including parking and traffic flow. Plans are in place to guide visitors efficiently through downtown, with the Water Tower lot serving as the primary parking area and a separate designated lot reserved for season ticket holders. The team will be sharing details directly with those ticket holders soon.
We’ll continue to share clear, helpful information leading up to Tuesday, April 14, so everyone knows what to expect. And the best part — parking for Warbirds games will be free, making it easy to come downtown, enjoy the experience, and stay awhile.
Starting a busy season
Saturday is just the start. The Warbirds open their season on Tuesday, April 14, with what's expected to be a sellout crowd so around 3,500 people will be there and around 35,000 will later claim to have been.
Opening Day is the first of 62 home games that stretches out to Aug. 30. Something you may not know -- the Warbirds don't play Mondays. And the homestands and road trips are all either one or two weeks long.
When the Warbirds are home to roost, we will see game traffic at least Tuesday-Sunday, there will be fireworks Friday and Saturday nights, and there will be lots of promotions nights so you may see people with their dogs, first responders, Star Wars fans, Jimmy Buffett fans, it could get wild. And expect a big celebration July 3-5 for our country's 250th birthday.
The park is going to be hosting other events as well and should be open every day for walkers. Stay tuned for more details.
