Stadium work will continue, intensify this summer
Construction is underway on the new downtown stadium. We will continue the Farmers and Artisan Market, Gig in the Park concerts and many other events in their current locations during construction. We will provide updates on construction activity every few weeks or when any significant changes happen.
WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW?
The first phase of construction is relocating the water, sewer and stormwater lines in the area. Currently these lines run through what will be the outfield, so we need to move them to the perimeter of the stadium. This work includes Goldsboro Street on both sides of Hines. That area will remain closed through mid-July. We do not expect any interruptions to water and sewer service for customers during this work.
Goldsboro Street (Whirligig Park side) Street is closed to thru traffic through mid-July. The Whirligig Park Museum and American Center for Photographers are accessible.
Goldsboro Street (Post Office side) Portions of the street are closed through mid-July.
Buildings in the stadium footprint have been demolished.
STREET CLOSURES
Goldsboro Street (Whirligig Park side) from Hines to Barnes closed to thru traffic through mid-July
Goldsboro Street (Post Office side) from Walnut to Hines is closed through mid-July
PARKING
Parking for events at the Whirligig Park is available at the public parking deck, in the public parking lot behind Casita Brewing Co and the HUB Pizzeria & Arcade and in all other public parking lots and on street parking in downtown.
WHAT’S NEXT?
A fence will go up around the stadium site starting the week of June 3. Tree removal is expected to start the week of June 10. Douglas Street from Hines to Jones will be permanently closed starting June 10.

Block of Nash Street to close for streetscape work
A familiar detour will return to Nash Street next week. The block between Pine Street and Jackson Streets will close Monday, June 10, for construction of streetscape improvements, including additional parking.
This same block was closed for several months last year during the construction of the Centro apartments. This streetscape project is part of the larger Pine-Nash redevelopment and will both beautify the block while also adding parking in front of the Foundation YMCA.
Nash Street will be closed to thru traffic, but a lane will remain open to allow egress from the city's Customer Service Center's drive-through lanes. Customers will be able to make a right turn from the Customer Service Center.
The parking lot across from the YMCA on Nash Street will remain open, but it will be accessible only from Green Street and will be tough to navigate. The parking deck off Broad Street will be open throughout the project. Also Pine Street will remain open, unlike 2023.
