Last Week for Early Voting
One more week is available for voters who want to vote early. Early voting is available at nine sites throughout the county through Saturday, Nov. 2. To view a list of locations and hours, click here. You can register to vote and cast a ballot at any early voting site listed above by completing a voter registration form and providing an identifying document with your current address (not on Election Day). Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. If you want to request an absentee ballot, request forms must be received by the Board of Elections office in Monroe by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29. 2024 Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show
The City of Monroe is pleased to announce the 2024 Warbirds Over Monroe Air Show will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10, at Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport, 3900 Paul J Helms Drive. Join us Veterans Day weekend for the most action-packed air show in the region as we honor the men and women who served in our U.S. Armed Forces. Union County’s Director of Veterans Services, Michelle Marcano, will be speaking at the opening ceremony at 10:45 a.m. This year's air show will feature dozens of planes from the World War II era and beyond, most of which will be on display before the aerial portion of the show. Union County’s Child Care Health Consultants' Vital Work Amid Pertussis Spike
In response to the rise of pertussis cases in Union County, the Immunization Program and Child Care Health Consultants (CCHCs) organized a mobile immunization van, vaccinating 120 childcare providers to protect against whooping cough. Tree Planting Fundraiser for Monroe-Union Breakfast Rotary Club
The Monroe-Union Breakfast Rotary Club is offering to plant trees for local property owners at a discounted rate. The club will assess your property, buy 15-gallon trees and mulch at wholesale prices, and professionally install the trees for you for a moderate fee. Celebrate Community Planning
Union County Planning invites you to Celebrate Community Planning this Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 4-6 p.m. at Union County Government Center. Learn about the milestones and achievements since the adoption of Union County 2050 in 2021. J.R. Rowell, Chairman of the Union County Board of Commissioners, will give a brief welcome and speak about the importance of community planning. Everyone is welcome to attend this open house style event. No RSVP or registration is required.

Join Wingate’s Opera Theater for performances of Pauline Viardot's opera "Cendrillon" on Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2:30 p.m. The story follows the familiar journey of the mistreated Cinderella, her magical transformation, and her eventual triumph over adversity to find true love. Come out to Old Monroe Pharmacy on Saturday, Oct. 26, between 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. for Operation Medicine Drop where several agencies will be collecting these items and disposing of them properly.
Operation Medicine Drop is a free drug take-back program that gives those in our community a safe and secure way to dispose of unwanted over-the-counter and prescription medications. Find a permanent drop box location near you.
