The Expo provides opportunities for employees to interact with our benefit vendors, learn about the benefits available to you, mingle with your colleagues, win prizes, and have a little fun. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Update
If you missed the message in the UC Insider on Monday, please be aware that we are in the process of transitioning EAP providers. Deer Oaks is no longer our EAP provider as of June 30, 2023. During this transition, if you have a critical counseling need, please contact Atrium Health EAP at 704.355.5021 or 1.800.384.1097. Additional information will be coming soon regarding this transition.
It takes each one of us to create a positive, respectful and team-minded work culture. Join us for a workshop on July 19 to understand Organizational Citizenship and learn strategies for identifying counterproductive work behaviors, as well as coping, changing and influencing behavior in the workplace. Two sessions are available for registration: 10 a.m.-noon or 1-3 p.m. Sessions will be held at the Emergency Services Center.

The Board of County Commissioners recently approved a few updates to the Union County Personnel Resolution. Highlights of those updates are listed below.

Effective July 1: The cap for total accrued vacation paid to eligible employees at separation has been removed. For example: the 240/252 hour cap for payment will no longer apply, and eligible employees will be paid the entire accrued vacation balance of hours. This change will apply to any eligible employees separating July 1 or after.

Effective July 1: The probationary period of employment, disciplinary policy and grievance policy will not apply to any job classification or positions which are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Specifically, these positions are the County Manager, Clerk to the Board, County Attorney, and Tax Administrator.

Effective Nov. 1: Holidays will be paid as they occur and will no longer be banked for employees working on the observed holiday. There is no change to the current administration of holiday pay at this time. Please proceed with use of banked holiday if applicable and normal holiday time card administration. Additional information will be communicated to employees as the Nov. 1 effective date approaches for this upcoming change.
