WHAT'S NEW:
NCSIS Graduation Program Updates*
NCDPI will publish all state graduation requirement programs on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, by close of business day for the following update reasons.
- Added Credit Requirements to the 2012 Graduation Requirement Program
- Will now reflect credit type totals (Credit Summary) when printing the NC Official Transcript.
- Note: Navigate to the student’s graduation calendar year to print a historical transcript.
- Publish NC FRC/FRCO Graduation Requirement Program flags
- Flags will now show for all students assigned to one of the NC FRC/FRCO Graduation Requirement Programs
- Example (view in Student Information > General > Summary):
|
 |
- Districts with incorrect Credit Group Setup per State guidance were seeing issues on both the Student Progress Screen and in the student’s Course Plan not reflecting the new “Comp Sci” credit type courses for an assigned 2026 grad program.
- Once districts correct their Credit Group Setup then NCDPI’s re-publishing grad programs reconnects Academic Planning > Course Plan and will fix Student Progress to show “Comp Sci” credit type.
-
Click here for steps to add and map the Comp Sci credit type.
These updates will not affect current assignments of state grad programs to students.
If Graduation Program or Credit Group Setup support is needed, submit an Infinite Campus Support Case
General Updates*
- Pre-K Teaching Strategies and NC ELI Rosters Issue Reporting
A form is available to report issues with integrations. Before reporting an issue, please check the Pre-K Teaching Strategies Data Integration Guide and the Preschool in NCSIS article. The form link is: Pre-K Teaching Strategies and NC ELI Rostering Issue Reporting.
- New (NC) School Month Verification Data Validation
This report now displays the updated 5 calendar day submission window for each PMR. This report also shows all school month setup and provides validation messages when incorrect data is found. Please see the description when running the report for more information about each message.
|
Data Quality Focus*
Welcome to our new section, Data Quality Focus! Each edition will highlight specific types of data to review, audit and/or correct, helping improve data quality and consistency across the state.
New FERPA Data Validation Report
Several upcoming data pulls require verification of students’ FERPA program responses. To support this review, a new data validation report, (NC) FERPA Verification Reports, has been published. It includes two reports:
-
(NC) FERPA Program Information: Uses the selected context to return FERPA program records for students. Filter for blank end dates to find open programs. When data is pulled by NCDPI, a blank is interpreted as “No”. Verify that all data is correct. All students should have an answer for the directory question, but only high school students need answers for the military, college and ACT questions.
-
(NC) FERPA Records Without Enrollment: Identifies FERPA program records for individuals who have no enrollment in any year. This list might help you identify duplicate student records or incorrectly entered students. FERPA programs are not needed for people that are not students, but they do not have to be deleted.
Please use these reports to review the data in FERPA programs and make any necessary corrections before the upcoming data pulls.
Note that if all FERPA questions are not completed for students, they can be imported through the Federal/State Program Update Wizard. More information can be found here: Federal/State Program Update Wizard - Start here | Infinite Campus.
|
NCSIS Now*
NCSIS Now highlights timely processes, helpful tips, or important reminders that you can put to use right away.
Legislative Class Size Report
Twice a year, the Legislative Class Size Report is submitted to NCDPI. This group of reports ensures compliance with legislated requirements around class size. More information about the class size requirements can be found here: Student Accounting | NC DPI or in Chapter 6 of your SASA manual.
All LEAs, Charter Schools, Lab Schools, and the Regional Schools, regardless of class size exemption status, should run and submit the Legislative Class Size Reports. Even if a PSU/school is exempt, every PSU must submit the required reports for all schools to meet federal reporting requirements.
Please read the Legislative Class Size | NC Department of Public Instruction article for information about the setup in NCSIS needed to accurately report data, as well as directions on submitting the reports. This article also includes information on running and using the Class Size Violations report to see if waivers need to be submitted.
Because these reports are date dependent, fall reports cannot be submitted until November 1, 2026, and are due by November 10, 2026.
Each report must be submitted for each school that has any of the applicable grade levels for that report. The process is similar to PMR and each report must be Generated, Reviewed and Submitted by the same user. The three reports to be submitted are:
Snapshot Period: Fall
- Class Size (K-12)
- Class Size Average (K-3)
- Program Enhancement Teachers (K-12)
For LEAs, each superintendent must also submit an affidavit and a Class Size Waiver if necessary. More information can be found here: Student Accounting | NC DPI .
|
State Reporting Corner*
PSUs should review the following state reporting due dates and ensure that data is accurate before each applicable deadline. Please note that not all reports require a submission; some are collected through a data pull at COB on the due date.

November 4: Dropout Data Collection
-
November 4 (Anticipated): Grade Level Retention/Promotion Data Collection
