 Governor Josh Stein has officially proclaimed September 13-19, 2026, NC Arts in Education Week, as the field of arts education joins together in communities across the country to advocate, educate, and celebrate about the impact and transformative power of the arts in education.
 Thank you to our North Carolina State Superintendent, Mo Green for his recognition of the importance and transformative power of the Arts in our K-12 schools! Stay tuned to our social media channels for many more posts throughout the remainder of the week as we continue to celebrate academic excellence and the good in public instruction in honor of Arts in Education Week!
 Join NCDPI in celebrating Arts in Education Week with two marching band performances on the Halifax Mall lawn. Both performances will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will also be streamed on the NC Public Schools YouTube channel.

Tuesday, Sept. 15: Grimsley Senior High School (Guilford County Schools) - The 2025-26 High School OT Marching Band of the Year, Grimsley’s band program emphasizes musical excellence, community and discipline.

Thursday, Sept. 17: Scotland High School (Scotland County Schools) - With roots dating to the 1950s, the Scotland Band proudly celebrates its Scottish heritage and has performed at prominent parades and competitions across the country.

High quality, standards-based instruction in the arts develops these skills and effectively engages, retains, and prepares future-ready students for graduation and success in an entrepreneurial economy. Dance, music, theatre arts, and visual arts, taught by licensed arts educators and integrated throughout the curriculum, are critical to North Carolina's 21st century education.
