NCDPI Student Locator Issues*
The NCDPI Student Locator (locator.ncsis.gov) is currently not functioning as expected. User Access Requests cannot be approved, and the Overlapping Enrollment Report is unavailable. Data shown for searched students is correct except for the PSU and school names (other data, including the PSU code and school code are correct).
NCDPI is aware of these issues and will share additional information as it becomes available. Please do not submit a ServiceNow ticket at this time.

Statewide Parent Portal Message*
There will be a statewide message that will be displayed to parents to NCSIS Parent Portal starting tomorrow, August 28, 2026. It will run for a week until Friday, September 4. Once posted in Parent Portal, it will also be posted to this website: https://www.dpi.nc.gov/blog-category/superintendent-letters-parents.

Review Enrollment Overlaps After Day 10*
Once your school has passed Day 10, begin running the core State Enrollment Overlap Report (Student Information > Reports > State Enrollment Overlap Report). Review any overlapping enrollment records identified and work with the other PSUs involved to make the necessary corrections.
Resolving enrollment overlaps early will help ensure that your PMR data is accurate when it is time to submit.

State Reporting Corner*
PSUs should review the following state reporting due dates and ensure that data is accurate before each applicable deadline. Please note that not all reports require a submission; some are collected through a data pull at COB on the due date.

New Attendance Codes Coming in Version .2631*
With the implementation of version .2631, new attendance codes required by recent legislation, in addition to the new 2P attendance code, will be added to each PSU.
PSUs do not need to add these codes manually. Additional guidance about using the new attendance codes will be provided as it becomes available. There is not yet a confirmed date when version .2631 will be implemented in production.

Enhanced PMR Reports Coming in Version .2631*
Version .2631 will introduce several new and enhanced PMR reports for PSUs:
- Student Day Detail Report
- ADA Summary Report
- ADM Summary Report
- ADM 10-Day Violation Detail Report
- Day Detail Report
- Month Summary Report
These reports will provide additional detail to help PSUs review their data and verify the accuracy of the PMR.
NCDPI is developing supporting resources and recommended data-review procedures that will be released with the new reports. Because there is not yet a confirmed date for implementing version .2631 in production, PSUs should continue running and submitting PMRs according to the current process until further notice.

School Month Naming Convention Updated*
A statewide script was run on August 21, 2026, to update each School Month Name so that it matches its corresponding Sequence Number. This change provides a consistent school month naming convention across all PSUs.
When setting up school months in future years, please continue to name each School Month using its Sequence Number.

Coming in Version .2635: New Enrollment Tool Fields*
Beginning with version .2635, the Enrollment tool will include new fields to identify:
- Where a student enrolled from (i.e., from a LEA, from a Charter School, from a Homeschool, etc)
- Where a student is going after withdrawal (i.e., to a LEA, to a Charter School, to a Homeschool, etc)
These fields will not be required initially but will become required at a later date. This advance notice is intended to help PSUs review their current enrollment and withdrawal processes and plan for any necessary procedural changes.
Additional guidance will be provided before the fields become required.

Action Required: Review Program Calendars*
Program Calendars must exist under the NCDPI school with the correct name and the correct number.
 These issues affect synchronization with ECATS, among other processes. Students enrolled in incorrectly configured calendars—or who should be enrolled in missing calendars—will not be pulled into ECATS.
Please run the (NC) ECATS Integration Active Year Data Validations report to identify inaccuracies and make the necessary corrections. All issues should be fixed in the first rule before proceeding to the following rules.
For instructions on creating program calendars and entering the correct calendar number in the Calendar Information tool, review the Create Program Calendars | NC Department of Public Instruction article.
Important: If you create program calendars, remember to perform a day reset and set up a term for each new calendar.
Annual ECATS Student Record Inactivation Script Ran August 20: What PSUs Need to Know*
Similar to last year, there is a small percentage of records that must be reconciled across the state using an inactivation script in ECATS. This script was run, August 20, and it inactivated any student in ECATS that is missing a 2026-27 school year enrollment in NCSIS. During the next 7-10 days, your EC staff may see some unanticipated issues with student demographic information in ECATS. This is part of the reconciliation that has to occur every year in order to ensure that student data is being processed properly in ECATS.
If there are still issues after the inactivation script is run in the ECATS system, additional solutions are available to PSUs:
- ECATS Inactivate Button: This functionality is only available for ECATS Power Users and should only be used with extreme caution for 2025-26 enrollments that should be inactive. An ECATS Student Inactivation Guide is available on the DPI ECATS Resource (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/districts-schools/classroom-resources/exceptional-children/every-child-accountability-tracking-system-ecats/ecats-resources) webpage.
- Duplicate Enrollment Issues: Duplicate enrollments for the 2026-27 school year should be addressed in the NCSIS.
- Additional Resources: If a student has an enrollment in the NCSIS for the 2026-2027 school year and is missing from or is inactive in ECATS, EC staff can review the NCSIS-ECATS Integration Crosswalk document, available in the ZenDesk Knowledge Guide, for data issues that may need correction to ensure the student is pulled into ECATS.
Due to the timing of NCSIS to ECATS file transfers and the high volume of automated Student Record Transfer processing, it may take 3-5 days for changes in the NCSIS to reach ECATS during this time of year. If you're still seeing difficulties after this point in time, please have your designated user submit a ZenDesk ticket.

NC ALPS Extract—Action Required by September 1, 2026*
Updates to the NC ALPS Extract were released with Campus.2623.13 on July 22, 2026. The updated report is now available in production, and the new submission deadline is September 1, 2026.
Please run the report against your 2025-26 calendars and verify the results before the deadline.
Required Action
- Add a Referring School to any existing ALPS Program records that do not already have one.
Reporting Changes

SchoolID and SchoolName are now reported from the Referring School entered on the ALPS Program Record.
- The extract now uses the Referring School value instead of determining the student's prior enrollment.
- New reporting logic has been added for:
- ReferringSchoolID
- ReferringSchoolName
- GradeCode
- The report layout has also been updated to meet state requirements with the addition of:
- EnrollmentStartDate
- EnrollmentStartStatus
- EnrollmentEndDate

Campus Passport is a collection of on-demand, self-paced courses that can be assigned to new and existing staff. Accessed through the Campus Community, you will find Instructor-Led Training, specific E-Learning courses, or select a learning plan based on your district role.
NCSIS Knowledge Base | NC Department of Public Instruction contains articles, video recordings and other resources about North Carolina processes.
GitHub Vendor Integrations Repository is a website where examples of 3rd party extract formats can be found (these are crowd sourced and should be vetted fully before implementing in your PSU).
Ad Hoc Filter Sharing Community is a shared Google folder for Ad Hoc filters that PSUs have created. Please add any helpful filters/reports you have created, and use others as you need. These are not guaranteed to work in your PSU and should be vetted fully.

Arts Education Graduation Requirements HS-Met Validation Update
NCDPI has updated and published the Arts Education Graduation Requirements HS Validation report rule for HS-Met.
The HS-Met rule was updated to
- include inactive students when run between school years;
- not include retained students that don’t meet the grade 9 entry date requirement of 25-26 SY and future;
- added the new paired courses that meet this requirement.
- ART-111 (Art Appreciation-5C015X0) and ART-121 (Two-Dimensional Design-5C075X0)

2026 Graduation Plan Assignments
On August 14, students who met both of the following criteria were assigned a 2026 graduation plan based on their course of study:
- Their Date First Entered the 9th Grade placed them in this year’s entering class.
- They did not already have a graduation plan assigned.
On August 28, students who meet both of the following criteria will be assigned a 2026 graduation plan based on their course of study:
- Their Date First Entered the 9th Grade places them in this year’s entering class
- They currently have a graduation plan assigned that is NOT a 2026 graduation plan
Action Required by August 27: If an entering freshman has data entered for future years in a course plan associated with a non 2026 graduation plan, please export the data by August 27 to preserve it.

NCSIS 2627.14 Upgrade
NCSIS, powered by Infinite Campus, was upgraded to 2627.14 on August 14, 2026. Please ensure this information is shared with the appropriate staff members.

Seating Charts Updates (SIS-199146) [Enhancement]
The Seating Charts tool has been redesigned to improve the usability, flexibility, and accessibility of the tool.

Displayed Gender: Rights, Form, and Reports (SIS-197376) [Enhancement]
Enhancements have been made to gender display options across the system's rights, forms, and reports. Users can now control what gender information is shared and with whom.

Dependent Care Updates Summer 2026 (SIS-196005) [Enhancement]
Multiple updates have been made to the Dependent Care tool.
Messenger 2.0 Send Enhancement (SIS-199868) [Enhancement]
The Send button on Step 3 of the Messenger 2.0 process has been changed to Review, allowing users to review recipient counts, view more recipient details, or return to the message before sending.

Course Information Value Displayed on Section Override Fields (SIS-196103)
Section fields that are override values for the same fields that display on Course Information now include information text that displays the values entered on the Course Information fields. This allows a user to remain on the Section Information tool without having to switch back to Course Information to see the already assigned values.

North Carolina – Graduation Date for Grades 12 and 13 on Official Transcript (SIS-198013)
The Graduation Date that prints on the Official Transcripts has been updated to report as follows:
- For grades 9-11, the Expected Graduation Year displays the cohort year (the year the student entered high school plus four years)
- For grades 12-13, the Expected Graduation Date lists the last instructional day of the current school year.

North Carolina – UID Synchronization (SIS-198890)
The assignment process and synchronization for student UIDs have been automated and are now automatically shared with NC DPI.
An update is automatically sent when important student information is changed, including:
- Student demographics (such as name, gender, or birthdate)
- Race and ethnicity updates
- Enrollment changes (grade, status, start/end dates)
- Changes to a student’s primary enrollment
- Removal of an active enrollment
Updates are processed regularly in the background for real-time synchronization. Multiple changes for the same student are combined into a single update.
The initial assignment of a student's UID has not changed.

NC College Connect Validation Report
The NC College Connect Validation Report is now available.
Navigation: Reporting > Data Validation > (NC) NC College Connect Validation 2026-27
The report identifies students who:
- Meet eligibility requirements for direct admission to a two-year community college and participating four-year colleges and universities
- Meet eligibility requirements for a two-year community college only
- Are eligible but have incomplete address information
- Are not currently eligible, including the reason eligibility requirements were not met
PSUs should review the report and correct student records before the official data pull on September 9, 2026.
Due to the sensitive information included, this report is for internal use only. Access should be limited to staff with appropriate permissions. If validation report access is managed by user group, the appropriate groups must be added to the new report.

CRDC Coordination Brief
CRDC Coordination Brief: Get Connected and Start Preparing
The federal CRDC team has begun communicating about the SY2025–26 Civil Rights Data Collection, scheduled for Winter 2026.
Because initial federal communications may use contacts from the previous collection, PSUs should review CRDC contacts in EDDIE and submit needed updates by October 1. PSUs are encouraged to maintain two CRDC Coordinators to support communication and continuity.
Start preparing now. The SY2025–26 LEA Form, School Form, and Flat File Specifications are available on the CRDC Communities site. NCDPI is also updating the CRDC Canvas course with resources to support the North Carolina collection process.
Watch for the SY2025–26 Collection by Entity document in Canvas. This resource will identify data NCDPI can capture and data PSUs will need to collect and maintain locally, including information that requires current-year planning.
