Join us for the 2026–27 Unpacking Language Demands in Content Standards Webinar Series, a year-long professional learning opportunity designed for content and classroom teachers, multilingual learner (ML) teachers, specialists, support staff, instructional coaches, school leaders, and district administrators. Each session builds on the last, providing practical tools and research-based strategies to help educators create equitable, language-rich learning environments where multilingual learners can thrive.

Take Your Co-Teaching Partnership Statewide!
Applications are open for the 2026–27 Multilingual Learner Teacher Network (MLTN)!
Great co-teaching brings together the expertise of ML and content teachers to create stronger learning opportunities for multilingual learners. The NCDPI ML/Title III Team invites current ML–content co-teaching pairs to apply together for this statewide community of practice.
Approximately 10 selected pairs will study evidence-based guidance, strengthen their collaborative teaching practices, and develop classroom-ready resources to share with educators across North Carolina. Individual applicants are also welcome and may be matched with compatible participants.
From November 2026 through June 2027, members will attend three MLTN meetings and the Summer Conference and devote approximately one hour per week to required readings, partner collaboration, and resource development. Selected participants will receive sponsorship for approved costs associated with the required in-person convenings.

New WIDA Focus Bulletin on the language for reading
Get a better understanding of how WIDA assesses the language for reading on WIDA ACCESS by exploring our new Focus Bulletin. The Focus Bulletin covers the following topics:
- How language development is assessed in the Reading domain
- Connections between the WIDA ELD Standards and the skills assessed on the ACCESS Reading test
- How the ACCESS Reading test differs from English language arts assessments
New WIDA Snapshots: Strengthening classroom assessment for multilingual learners
Effective classroom assessment can reflect and build on the strengths multilingual learners bring to learning. A new three-part WIDA Snapshot series by Margo Gottlieb highlights how educators can design integrated learning goals, targets and objectives, leverage the power of feedback and enhance their assessment literacy to support multilingual learners’ growth. 2026-2027 ELA SCOS Webinar Series
Join the NCDPI ELA Team throughout the 2026-27 school year for a focused on the 2026 English Language Arts Standard Course of Study! Each session will explore a specific strand of the standards, building educators’ understanding and readiness for implementation in the 2027–28 school year.
During each webinar, participants will
- Receive an overview of the featured strand, including its purpose, structure, and design.
- Explore key resources and unpacking documents to build a deeper understanding of the standards and objectives.
- Reflect on the instructional shifts needed to support effective teaching and learning aligned to the new standards.

DL/I Leaders Meetings for 2026-2027
The DL/I in NC Committee is evolving! Starting this school year, we are transforming into the DL/I Leaders Meetings—a dynamic, statewide collaborative network open to all dual language/immersion (DL/I) practitioners across North Carolina.
Participants will:
- receive policy updates and understand their direct impact on DL/I programs at the elementary, middle, and/or high school levels.
- review and access high-quality materials, research, and resources to support program implementation and long-term growth.
- collaborate, share solutions, and network with peers on the topics you need to talk about the most. Please note: this will take place during the final hour of each meeting as a virtual working lunch.
Dates & Registration
With over 300 DL/I programs driving success across North Carolina, leadership takes many forms. We have the virtual capacity to welcome at least three leaders from every single program (central office leaders, school administrators, and/or instructional leads).

Upcoming NCEES Training Opportunities
NCDPI is offering a series of Instructional Support NCEES training opportunities for the 2026–2027 school year designed to help both instructional support professionals and their evaluators better understand evaluation tools, standards, evidence, and recent updates to the evaluation process. Sessions address a range of roles, including school social workers, school counselors, school psychologists, Teacher Leadership Specialists, Career Development Coordinators, Instructional Technology Facilitators, and School Library Media Coordinators.
Whether participants are looking to strengthen their own understanding of the evaluation process or improve how they supervise and evaluate specialized instructional support roles, these sessions provide practical strategies for identifying meaningful evidence, building professional portfolios, and supporting productive evaluation conversations. NC College Connect: A Simpler Path to College Admission
Do you know a North Carolina public high school senior? They may already qualify for college admission through NC College Connect—with no essays or test scores required.
NC College Connect offers direct admission to participating UNC System universities, independent colleges and universities, and North Carolina community colleges for students who already meet admission requirements.
Who is eligible?
- Students with a weighted GPA of 2.8 or higher who meet program requirements may receive direct admission to participating colleges and universities.
- Students who do not meet the 2.8 GPA threshold may receive direct admission to their local community college.
How does it work?
Beginning September 15, students can log in to their CFNC student account to check their eligibility. Eligible students will also receive a letter by mail later in September.
Through the NC College Connect portal, students can:
- View the colleges and universities where they have been admitted
- Complete the NC College Connect form to accept an admission offer
- Receive next steps from the college about enrollment, financial aid, and more
