Virtual 2026 ELA SCOS Initial Implementation Session Registration Open!
Join the NCDPI ELA Team on July 21, 2026 for a half-day professional development--specifically targeted to ELA Leaders--to learn more about the new 2026 ELA SCOS which is scheduled for implementation the 27-28 school year.
The session will take place between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM. Topics covered will include:
- Standards basics and a high-level review of the newly adopted ELA SCOS
- Resource exploration including unpacking documents, glossary, crosswalk, and vertical progression
- Support for local messaging and communications
- Implementation guidance for planning and considering next steps

In-Person Standards Regional PD Registration Closed
Registration for in-person regional sessions is now closed. Leaders wishing to make changes to their currently registered attendees should contact Mary Phillips at mary.phillips@dpi.nc.gov.

Reminder: Northeast Region PD Location Updated
Due to ongoing construction at the original location, the July 9, 2026 initial standards implementation session will now be held in Greenville, North Carolina. An updated registration confirmation email with the address of the new location was sent on May 28, 2026 to those who registered for the July 9 session.
ELA Leaders in the Northeast region are encouraged to contact Mary Phillips at mary.phillips@dpi.nc.gov if an updated registration email was not received.
