 K-12 Mathematics Standards
Draft 2 of the Proposed 2026 K-12 Math Standards
The NCDPI K-12 Math Team would like to thank all the educators, administrators, parents, students, institutions of higher education, business/industry representatives, national organizations, charter schools, and school systems who provided feedback on Draft 2 of the proposed North Carolina K-12 Mathematics Standards. The feedback window closed on Monday, May 18th at 5pm EST.
The Data Review Committee has begun its review of the information and feedback collected and will provide recommendations to the Standards Writing Team by the middle of June. The Standards Writing Team will then begin preparing a third draft of the proposed standards and is scheduled to present Draft 3 to the State Board of Education for discussion in August, 2026.
The resources below are still available to anyone who wishes to learn more about the proposed K-12 Math standards.

K-12 Progressions - This folder contains the vertical progressions for K-5, 6-8, Math 1 and 2, as well as the new progressions document, which outlines the vertical alignment for the proposed new high school courses. The folder also has a spreadsheet with all of the draft 2 standards by grade/course.
- AP Precalculus resources - We have provided revised versions of these resources based on edits to Draft 2
- Recommended Placement of NC Math 3 and NC Math 4 standards based on Draft 2 revisions

 Accessibility Updates
On April 20, the U.S. Department of Justice extended the compliance deadline for the ADA Title II web and mobile application accessibility rule. NCDPI's new deadline is April 26, 2027, giving approximately one additional year to meet the requirements.
The extension does not change the work to ensure we meet obligations under the ADA to make documents, websites, and materials accessible. In the short term, the Math Resource Hub will remain available, as will all of the documents currently posted. Over the next year, the team will continue working to address and remediate previously published documents, presentations, and videos.
To appropriately address ADA requirements, the format and structure of some documents may need to be altered. The K-12 Math team has already addressed the accessibility of the following resources:

- Glossary
- Math Options Charts

The Summer Conference is Just Around the Corner!
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s Office of Teaching and Learning proudly presents the 2026 Growing Success for Multilingual Learners (MLs) and The Standards Academy Summer Conference. This unique professional learning opportunity brings together two outstanding conferences in one location, offering educators, instructional leaders, and administrators access to sessions focused on multilingual learner success, standards-based instruction, leadership, innovation, and equitable practices.

NCDPI K-12 Mathematics Virtual Office Hours
On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the NCDPI K-12 Mathematics team, with special guests, Office of Exceptional Children consultants, NCCTM representatives, and Testing and Accountability Test Measurement specialists, held an office hour for NC Math school and district leaders. This office hour featured information, opportunities, and resources from all groups as well as updates from NCDPI Mathematics team.

NC K-12 Math Standards Resource Hub
The NCDPI K-12 Mathematics team has created a repository to provide a variety of resources for supporting school leaders, administrators, educators, and parents/caregivers. The NC K-12 Math Standards Resource Hub houses the standards, communications, and recommended resources related to the implementation of the North Carolina K-12 Math Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS).
The hub includes:
- K-12 standards and unpacking documents
- Previous PD presentations, recordings, and resources
- At Home Resource Guides for parent/guardians
- Math Options Chart aligned to post graduation plans
- STEM Content Integration
Math educators are encouraged to browse, reference, download, share, discuss, and adapt resources.
