Amendment Requests:
Mountain Discovery Charter: Mission statement revision request was approved.
Central Park School for Children: Mission statement revision request was denied.
TMSA Charlotte: Request to increase CSADM over 20% for a Low-Performing School was approved.
Carolina Collegiate (Open Fall 2026): Request to reduce enrollment projections was approved.
Bettis Academy (Open Fall 2027): Requests to revise their mission statement, adjust grade-level span for years 1-5, and utilize a weighted lottery was approved.
Ready to Open School Updates:
Dr. Natasha Norins, OCS Consultant, provided CSRB with updates regarding the 2026 Ready to Open cohort utilizing information from the Readiness Reports. BH2 STREAM, Focus Academy, RYZE Academy, and IDYL Wake were asked to appear before the board to share their progress with facilities and enrollment.
CSRB will receive another readiness report in June followed by a vote to determine if a school opens, delays opening, or will not open. Those schools are as follows:
NC Connections, Full Virtual School - Statewide
Carolina Collegiate High School - Durham
Warren YES - Warren
BH2 STREAM - Edgecombe
FOCUS Academy - Wake
RYZE Academy - Guilford
IDYL - Wake
Other Business:
Dr. Natasha Norins, OCS Consultant, introduced 10 recipients of the SECU People Helping People Scholarship. Each student shared which university they will attend and their future aspirations. Scholarship recipients are as follows:
