--------------APRIL LAUNCH---------------
NC College Connect is helping North Carolina continue to lead the way in expanding access through direct college admissions and educators like you are at the heart of that impact. Across the state, this program is opening doors, simplifying the application process, and creating real opportunities for students to take the next step with confidence. NCDPI and our partners are excited to launch another year of the NC College Connect and look forward to partnering with you to make an even greater difference for students everywhere!
The NC College Connect website and materials have been updated for the 2026-27 school year with all new resources for educators including a 2026 Kick-off-One Pager and 2026 Kickoff-Social Media Graphic and more to come!
|
Upcoming Key Dates:
Next steps:
- Share this opportunity widely with your students and families. Distribute the one-pager to ALL juniors.
- Attend virtual overview sessions to be informed with new information for this upcoming year. See above for links.
- Communicate this launch with your school community, teachers, coaches - everyone! Publicize these opportunities in your end-of-year communications.
- Continue your efforts in ensuring that every eligible student knows that college is within reach and that someone believes in their potential. Encourage students to research colleges and program offerings this summer.
- Build momentum for the program by determining a plan for the 2026-2027 school year to promote NC College Connect!

Upgrades for 2026-2027:
- This year, every public school senior in North Carolina will receive direct admission. Just like past years, students with a 2.8 GPA and above, who meet NC College Connect program requirements, including being on track to graduate and having their fourth-level math, will be eligible for direct admission at a personalized list of participating 4-year colleges and universities. ***New - Every student will receive direct admission to their local community college.
- One data-pull on in mid-September that will include all Seniors. Make sure students are enrolled in courses that indicate they are on track for graduation.
- Students will learn about their direct admission through a formal letter, mailed in September 2026 and in the CFNC portal. Students will have until January 8, 2027 to accept their admission at the institutions of their choice.
- NC College Connect form/application will self-populate! No need for students to re-enter information if they accept their offer from multiple schools.
In closing:
Thank you for the vital role you play in opening doors and creating opportunities. Together, we are making college access a reality for ALL students across North Carolina.
