AP/IB/CIE Teacher Performance Bonus Information
Some Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Cambridge International Education (CIE) teachers are eligible for bonus pay in January 2026, depending on qualifying students’ scores from the May 2025 administration of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Cambridge exams. The performance bonuses are based on legislation to reward advanced course teacher performance and support teacher retention, as well as to encourage student learning and improvement. For the May 2025 exams, the bonuses are to be distributed by the end of January 2026.
To determine teacher eligibility, please see the Updated FAQ from the NCDPI Division of School Business. All data are local, as NCDPI does not receive teacher names, and this bonus distribution list must be created by the district or charter school, based on qualifying scores, which are different for each program.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Beth at Beth.cross@dpi.nc.gov.
2026-2027 Master Course Code List Available
The SY 2026-2027 Master Course Code List is now available to Public School Units (PSUs):
As we close out 2025 and prepare for the May 2026 AP Exam administration, please review two critical January deadlines. Your NCAPP team will also share this information directly with each school’s AP Coordinator, but we want to ensure you are aware of these key dates.
January 16, 2026 – Deadline to Submit Accommodations Requests
SSD coordinators must submit accommodations requests, and all required supporting documentation in SSD Online by this date.
- SSD processing can take up to seven weeks, and approvals occur on a rolling basis.
-
Please note: If a coordinator misses this deadline, accommodations may not be approved in time for exam materials.
SSD guidelines and instructions can be found here.
January 31, 2026 – Deadline to Submit AP Course Audit Materials
This final deadline applies to:
- Initial AP Course Audit submissions for new courses and for teachers new to your school or to an AP course – this includes ALL second semester AP teachers
- All renewals, including second-semester AP courses
- Removal of teachers/courses
- Addition of online/distance learning courses
If teachers do not complete their required submissions by January 31, they will lose access to AP Classroom, and this access cannot be restored. We will advise AP Coordinators to ensure all AP teachers—including second-semester teachers—have completed the AP Course Audit and that a school administrator has approved each submission.
AP Course Audit information and instructions can be found here.
As always, please reach out to your NCAPP support contact (Michelle, Ryan, or Laura) with any College Board questions. We appreciate you!
