Melanie Rackley, OCS Consultant, introduced the 2025 charter applicants and outlined legislation and timelines related to the application process. The applicants and their outcomes were as follows:

CSRB voted to terminate the charter for Monroe Charter Academy effective immediately pursuant to N.C. General Statute 115C-218.95.
Jenna Cook, OCS Consultant, outlined legislation and timelines related to the charter school renewal process. Voting on renewal terms will occur in February and March of 2026. The following charter schools seeking renewal in 2026 participated in their renewal interviews:

10-year Renewal Schools: Clover Garden, New Dimensions School, Fern Leaf Community Charter School, Bradford Preparatory School, Pioneer Springs Community School, Unity Classical School, Telra Institute, Moore Montessori Community School, KIPP Pride College Preparatory, Roxboro Community School, Old Main STREAM Academy, Faith Academy Charter School, and Carolina Charter Academy.
Ashley Logue, OCS Director, stated the Office of Charter Schools will take another month to collect public feedback regarding the Ready to Open process. In January 2026, she will host a public session to explain the role of OCS in the Ready to Open process and invite feedback for improvement.
