Monthly Standards Update

In May 2024, the NCDPI ELA Team began revision of the current 2017 ELA Standard Course of Study (SCOS). In an effort to keep stakeholders informed during the Revision Phase, the NCDPI ELA Team will provide standards updates that contain the latest announcements and current news regarding the ELA SCOS.

These updates will be sent the first Friday of every month. View the updated revision timeline for an overview of the revision process. 

Updates on the revision process can also be viewed on the Office of Teaching and Learning webpage, as well as the ELA Virtual Implementation Kit (VIK) on the Standards Review, Revision, & Implementation page.

Proposed 2025 ELA Standard Course of Study on December State Board of Education Agenda

Meeting Dates: December 3-4, 2025

PSU and community stakeholders are encouraged to tune in to the December 2025 North Carolina State Board of Education meeting where the Proposed 2025 English Language Arts Standard Course of Study will be presented for discussion.
