Save the date to join us at the Comprehensive Arts Education Conference on Saturday, September 6th at Meredith College, Raleigh NC.
This day-long conference serves as a statewide professional development opportunity for arts educators, district arts education leaders*, teaching artists, arts integration specialists, and pre-service teachers from across North Carolina working in K-12 programs, independent studios, performing arts organizations, and higher education institutions.
The mission of this conference is to support the three essential components of the North Carolina Comprehensive Arts Education Model: Arts Education, Arts Integration, and Arts Exposure. Sessions will be centered on the four K-12 Arts Education Standards core strands of Connect, Create, Present, and Respond.

A technical revision has been made to the 2nd grade Theatre Arts Standard Course of Study, following feedback from the field and the development of accompanying support documents.
What’s Changed? The original standard: 2.PR.2.1 – Describe the production elements needed to develop formal and informal performances.
The updated standard now reads: 2.PR.2.1 – Develop a short scene or play with support.
This revision was approved by the State Board of Education and is now reflected in the updated Theatre Arts SCOS, available on the Arts Education Hub.
Educators are encouraged to download the most current version, especially if using an earlier copy that includes the original second grade objectives.
Ongoing communication about this change will be shared through multiple channels to ensure broad awareness across the field.
