Important Update on PRC-051 (MEP) Funds and Recommended Actions
Good day MEP family,
We hope this message finds you well.
We want to provide a brief update regarding the Migrant Education Program (PRC-051) funds. At this time, these funds have not yet been disbursed to the states, and NCMEP leadership has not received a confirmed timeline for their release. We are hopeful that more information will be available around the July 1 timeframe.
While we await further guidance, we recommend that districts approach planning and spending with caution. To help maintain fiscal stability during this period, districts may consider the following interim measures:
- Consult with district leadership before reallocating or “borrowing” funds from other PRCs to PRC-051.
- Focus spending on essential items, such as salaries.
- Temporarily pause any new hiring processes.
- Limit travel where feasible.
- When possible, prioritize remote communication (e.g., phone or virtual) when providing support to families and students.
- Keep your district’s CFO and/or Superintendent informed to ensure alignment.
We understand this may require adjustments and appreciate your thoughtful approach. NCMEP leadership is closely monitoring the situation and will share updates as soon as additional information becomes available.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to supporting students and families.
