WHAT'S NEW!
Twice-Retained Report Now Available*
Phase I
A twice-retained report is now available in NCSIS. The twice retained report will produce a list of students retained in grades KG, 1, 2, or 3 and then retained again in grade 3 or promoted to 4th grade with an RRET Program Entry Status valid after November 1 of the current year. For instructions, please review the updated article on Read to Achieve. The instructions for accessing the data validation are at the end of the article.

Home Language Survey*
Phase I & II
The NC State Board of Education (SBE) has updated each student's Home Language Survey requirements for each student. NC SBE policy Test 0-11 now requires that all PSUs use a Standardized Home Language Survey. In an effort to support this change, we will be hosting a series of face-to-face professional development opportunities in February and March and some virtual options as well in March. This professional development is designed to help all staff with the knowledge and tools to administer the standardized Home Language Survey effectively for all students. This is training for School Data Managers, Enrollment stakeholders, EL Data Managers, SIS Coordinators, ML Coordinators, and of course, any administrators who want to join. Please share this information with your Data Managers. We are going on tour in every state board region in February and March.
More information is available in this flyer and registration link.

Phase II Data Conversion Information*
Phase II
Infinite Campus will convert data for Phase II PSUs directly from PowerSchool. The data files on eMFTS are provided for your information and to allow for easier auditing of data, but any changes to these files will not change the data that is converted into Infinite Campus. The data that is converted comes straight from PowerSchool.
Use the Conversion Guide to help you audit and validate the data you have in PowerSchool using the data files. Make any changes necessary in PowerSchool.
Currently, not all files are ready to be audited and validated. Any updates will be listed on the Additions/Corrections page in the Conversion Guide.
Once your trial site is available, your implementation team will provide you with a Data Validation Workbook. It will have instructions about how to validate the data that has been converted. Any data issues found should be fixed in PowerSchool so that the production site contains the correct data.
Data labs will be available next week during the NCEdConnect Symposium if you have questions or would like assistance with your files. Please check them out!

Attention: NCSIS-IC Administrators
NCSIS-IC Grad Requirement Updates
NCDPI and Infinite Campus have worked to update additional Graduation Requirements (Grad Plans) in NCSIS-IC for Phase I PSUs availability to assign to students. Added are the NC 2020 Graduation Requirements and the 2021 OCS Graduation Requirements.
To view: Navigate to Student Information > Program Administration > Graduation Program Setup. Select the plus sign to expand graduation requirements and then select Compound Requirements to view course pathways.
- Program selection is based on the student's 9th grade entry date:
- Students who entered 9th grade in 07/01/2021 and later should be assigned 2021 NC Graduation Requirements (State Defined) or 2021 OCS Graduation Requirements (State Defined).
- Students who entered 9th grade prior to 07/01/2021 should be assigned 2020 NC Graduation Requirements (State Defined).

New Student Contact SQL Reports
Phase II
Three sqlReports are being added to the Data Audits folder in your PowerSchool instance to assist with the cleaning up of contact addresses which will be used to create Households in Infinite Campus. Each report focuses on a different set of students.
Path: Start Page > Reports > sqlReports > Data Audits
The name of the reports are:
 Student Contact Add Match Graduates
*Reminder that only active students will have households built in the Infinite Campus conversion. Please focus on other students for that purpose.
This report provides the user with the GRADUATED student and the contacts associated with them. A comparison is made between the student and contact Physical Address and then lists it as a MISMATCH if it is not identical and MATCH if it is.
- Student has a "W4" or "W6" exitcode
- Contact has an originalcontacttype of "mother" or "father" or the originalcontacttype is Null
- Physical address of the student is an exact match to the physical address of the associated contact or a mismatch
Student Contact Add Match Null OCT
*Although this report contains Original Contact Type, the conversion does not rely on this field at all. These reports can still be used to identify matches or mismatches between students and contacts.
This report provides the user with the student and the contacts associated with them. A comparison is made between the student and contact Physical Address and then lists it as a MISMATCH if it is not identical and MATCH if it is. This report only pulls contacts who have no Original Contact Type for their contacts.
- Contact originalcontacttype is Null
- The enroll_status = 0
- Physical address of the student is an exact match to the physical address of the associated contact or a mismatch

Access Test
Phase I
The ACCESS Testing window for the state opens mid-January. As part of this required State Test, there is now a data validation report to mirror the Expect ACCESS report in PowerSchool, called “Expect ACCESS Test”. This report helps PSUs track students who should be ACCESS-tested.
District accountability staff and School Test Coordinators are asked to use this report, which means they will need tool rights to Reporting - Data Validation in Infinite Campus if they do not already have access.

State Report Update
Phase I & II
The Fall Legislative Class Size (LCS) report has been delayed. All deadlines for affidavits and waiver requests are postponed until further notice. We will update you when the reports are up and running.
Please update your superintendents and SIS data managers accordingly.
Please contact Student Accounting studentaccounting@dpi.nc.gov with any questions regarding this delay or submission of the report or waivers.

2024-2025 Home Base Maintenance Periods
Phase I & II
Each year, a list of scheduled maintenance windows is published by NCDPI. This is published in advance to help teachers and administrators better prepare for temporary outages and loss of access. Please review the 2024-2025 maintenance schedule and put these dates on your calendar. In most cases, the entire window is not necessary and we can return systems to service earlier than listed. If emergency maintenance is required in addition to these scheduled dates, all users will be notified in advance.
