Standards Update Webinar Series
The 2024 - 2025 World Languages Standards Update Webinar Series continues on Wednesday, January 8 at 4:00 - 5:15 pm with Webinar #3: Instructional Support Tools & Resources for the New Standards. Please submit the online registration form to claim your virtual seat.
Following each live broadcast of the webinars in this series, the archived materials (recording, slide deck, handouts, and links) are posted in the Standards Installation area of the World Languages Resources Hub for local use in PLCs, PLTs, or other professional learning organized by district or charter school coordinators, department heads, curriculum directors, etc.
If you missed the past broadcasts, there are asynchronous options available for individuals who want to catch up on the content and still earn a Certificate of Completion for 1 contact hour or 0.1 CEU. Please click on the 2024-2025 World Languages Standards Update Webinar Series flyer (pictured below) at go.ncdpi.gov/WLwebinars24-25, where you can find registration forms for the upcoming broadcasts or access the asynchronous option via a Google form from previous webinars.
Standards Implementation Train-the-Trainer Workshops
The World Language Standards Implementation Workshops will be in-person and offered in each of the eight regions of the state (see map below) from late February - early April, 2025. These workshops are designed as a train-the-trainer series that will consist of a morning session (8:30-11:30 am) focused on the new standards and the updated support tools for their implementation, and an afternoon session (12:30-3:30 pm) dedicated to planning with the new standards, networking with other teachers, coaches, administrators, etc. in the region, and integrating the Literacy Instruction Standards (LIS) into World Language courses and programs.
Notes:
-
Registration is flexible and will allow participants to indicate whether they are signing up for the 6-hour option with both sessions or one of the 3-hour sessions (morning or afternoon) depending on their needs.
-
There are 50 seats at each location to ensure that every Public School Unit (PSU), or district and charter school, can send one (1) representative as their trainer. If your PSU representative would like to attend in a different region due to the date or location, please submit those details on the regional registration form (coming soon!) where they would like to participate. A waiting list will be created to accommodate these transfer requests as space is available.
Please make a note of the date and hosting PSU in your region, and watch for location details and registration forms on the the Standards Installation page of the World Languages Resources Hub.

External Implementation Guide
New Spanish Translation Documents Area
The External Implementation Guide (EIG) at go.ncdpi.gov/EIG is a repository for all North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSoS) stakeholders. This repository provides a variety of resources for supporting administrators, educators, and parents during the implementation of the current SCoS for each content area. The range of resources offers users an opportunity to determine their own specific needs and find materials that suit them.
The Spanish Translation Documents area has recently been added to the EIG, and it has links to the NCSCoS for Social Studies, Science, and English Language Development (ELD) in Spanish. These translated materials are also posted in their respective content area hubs linked in the EIG, and will soon be available in different configurations on the DL/I webpage.
