Many music educators exist on an island. Sometimes the only music specialist in a building, we may not have many colleagues who truly understand our work. Often, we have few places to find meaningful support, advice, and encouragement.
The KONC Board wants to start informal, quarterly meet-ups for music teachers in the various regions across our state. These would be casual get-togethers at local venues like breweries, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. We hope these will create opportunities to build community and form connections! (OAKE membership would not be required to attend.)
The quick survey below will help us determine where you are located, and if you would be interested in attending an event like this. Would you please fill out the form to help us gather information?

North Carolina's Vision for Comprehensive Arts Education
In today's globally competitive world, innovative thinking and creativity are essential for all school children. High quality, standards-based instruction in the arts develops these skills and effectively engages, retains, and prepares future-ready students for graduation and success in an entrepreneurial economy. Dance, music, theatre arts, and visual arts, taught by licensed arts educators and integrated throughout the curriculum, are critical to North Carolina's 21st century education.
