Hurricane Helene Capital Recovery Funds
Per North Carolina S.L. 2024‐53, disaster recovery funding of $50,000,000 has been appropriated “for repair and renovation of facilities in counties with a federal disaster declaration due to Hurricane Helene for local school administrative units and lab schools. These funds are for unmet needs not covered by insurance or available federal aid.”
DPI’s Office of School Facilities has been directed to administer Hurricane Helene Capital Recovery Funds for the repair of storm-damaged Public School Facilities in accordance with this Act. Districts located in counties covered by the disaster declaration, and who experienced school facility damage caused by Hurricane Helene, may submit requests for this funding using this form.

Leaders of the North Carolina General Assembly invite North Carolina high school students to apply for the annual Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA) slated for March 7-9, 2025, in Raleigh.
“North Carolina’s Youth Legislative Assembly offers students a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the legislative process and to develop leadership skills that will help them succeed in life,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger and House Speaker Tim Moore. “We are proud to continue this long tradition of helping prepare our state’s future leaders.”
