*New Courses Available* NCVPS Edvantage Tutoring
Edvantage Tutoring, as part of North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS), is in the midst of accepting school enrollments for the 2024-25 school year! Edvantage is growing, and NCVPS is excited to continue tutoring students across NC.
Edvantage Tutoring is offered in the following curriculum areas:
- 6th-8th grade ELA
- Middle school ELA: Writing Lab (asynchronous assistance in ELA)
- 6th-8th grade math
- 6th-8th grade science
- 8th grade Math I
- High school Math I, II and III
- High school biology
- High school chemistry
- High school English: Writing Lab (asynchronous assistance in English)
- Spanish I - IV
- General MS/HS Asynchronous Support (asynchronous assistance is also available in ALL curriculum areas listed)
Tutoring is available Monday-Thursday, 4-7:30 p.m. nightly through May 22, 2025. Daytime tutoring is also available per school/district request and may be utilized for students who are in ISS, suspended, homebound, absent, and/or working from home, McKinney-Vento, athletes needing extra support, etc.
There is a flat fee of $35/hour for tutoring and all tutoring slots are available in 30-minute increments. Please keep in mind that any unused purchased minutes automatically roll over to the next school year!

Registration Open for NCED Connect Symposium
The 2024 NCED Connect Conference, brought to you by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's Office of Digital Teaching and Learning, will take place January 21-23 in Greensboro.
This event is tailored for district and school leaders, SIS coordinators, data managers, librarians, instructional technology facilitators and instructional coaches. The conference will feature sessions on the North Carolina Student Information System, all Homebase applications, instructional technology pedagogy, AI in Education for school leadership and teachers, data privacy and school media programs.

K-12 Math Standards Surveys
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction's K-12 Math Standards team is excited to announce the start of the review process for the current K-12 math standards. Per the NC State Board of Education's Manual for the Review and Revision of Standards, the team is seeking feedback and input on the current standards from all stakeholders including educators, administrators, parents, students, institutions of higher education, business/industry representatives from across the state, national organizations and other education agencies. Updates to the current K-12 Math Standards may include clarifications, additions, deletions or replacements to the current standards.
K-12 Math Overview Survey for All Stakeholders - Overview of the K-12 Math standards asking general questions about the standards as a whole. In addition, this survey includes a question seeking input on what math skills and concepts every NC graduate should know.
K-12 Math Standard-by-Standard Survey for All Stakeholders - More detailed survey, allowing participants to provide specific feedback on each standard for every grade or course.
The deadline for both surveys is Monday, November 4, at 8 a.m.

Fort Liberty Military Academies Fair
High school students interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy, senior military college, junior military college or participate in a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program are invited to participate in Fort Liberty’s annual Military Academies Fair on October 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Family Readiness Group Center, Building 236 Interceptor St., Fort Liberty.
Representatives from several military schools and programs will be available at this event to answer questions and provide information about applying and preparing for these colleges and programs. For more information, contact gerhard.v.guevarra.naf@army.mil.

UNCSA High School Visual Arts Applications Available for 2025-26 Academic Year
UNC School of the Arts (UNCSA) Visual Arts Program is a residential program designed for high school juniors and seniors who have an artistic interest, dedication and enthusiasm they wish to pursue in a structured course of study. Learn more about the program.
Tuition is provided free of charge for in-state high school students, and the majority of their other educational costs (e.g., textbooks, health and wellness services, room and meal plan, activities, etc.) are covered by the North Carolina High School Artists Grant. NCDPI Hour of Code Expo
Student-led Computer Science teams from across North Carolina will be showcasing the skills they are learning within the realm of coding and Computer Science at the Hour of Code Expo!
Students will present current Computer Science projects and activities happening in their school. Join the fun-filled learning as students provide demonstrations and hands-on activities for NCDPI employees, SBOE members, legislators, media and others.

2024-25 School Safety Grant Office Hours
As a reminder, 2024-25 School Safety Grants are live in CCIP and are due at 11:59 p.m. on October 31.
The Center for Safer Schools will hold virtual School Safety Grant Office Hours on Friday, October 25, from 9-10 a.m. and Monday, October 28, from 1-2 p.m. School Safety Grant Office Hours are provided to public school units to help provide technical assistance, consultation and support.

College Application Week - Happening Now
College Application Week is this week, October 21-27! This is a great time for eligible students to submit their simplified applications as part of the NC College Connect program. Many NC colleges and universities will waive application fees during College Application Week, including most institutions participating in NC College Connect.
