NC S.A.F.E for Schools

Hi School Mental Health Partners,

Child access to firearms is an increasingly urgent issue across North Carolina. As a school health leader, you have the opportunity to help educate parents on this issue and to keep our schools and community safe.

NC S.A.F.E. is a nonpartisan initiative focused on safe storage of firearms — something we can all get behind. By encouraging parents to keep firearms safely secured, we can reduce child access, help avoid tragic accidents and other firearm-related deaths, and prevent gun thefts.

This school year, we’re introducing NC S.A.F.E. for Schools, a new program designed specifically for school districts. This program will help districts share relevant, timely information with parents.

Throughout the school year, we will be releasing six toolkits with new resources to help you easily share NC S.A.F.E. information. Each toolkit will include the following information, in both English and Spanish:

  • A featured resource, such as a shareable PDF or a video. These resources can be co-branded with your school district’s logo if you wish.
  • Shareable content, such as pre-written emails, newsletter blurbs, and more, to help you easily share this information with parents. This content is ready to use but can also be tailored to suit your needs.
  • Social media graphics, which you can share on your social media channels or through other channels.

The first toolkit is available now, as Step 1 in the Steps for Engaging Parents and Caregivers section of our website: ncsafe.org/schools. We encourage you to look at this toolkit and to review the resources available at the top of the page. We also hope you’ll follow us on social media to learn more.

If you’re interested in learning more or partnering with NC S.A.F.E., please email us at info@ncsafe.org. We’d also love to know whether you plan to share this information and what other helpful resources we can provide.

We look forward to working with you to keep kids and schools in North Carolina safe.

Thank you,

NC S.A.F.E. for Schools Team
