REQUIRED for Teachers New to NC Preschool or Kindergarten
Supports the Navigation of the NC ELI/Teaching Strategies Platform
The formative assessment training is required for all teachers new to preschool and kindergarten (including EC teachers who serve kindergarten students in a separate setting) and optional for others who would like to learn more about formative assessment practices for young learners. Building leaders and instructional support staff who work with these teachers and students are encouraged to take the course as well.
Self-Paced NCEES Course #26815 Title: 2024-2025 Introduction to Formative Assessment Training (approximately 6 hours)
For those without NCEdCloud/NCEES access (non-public pre-k teachers located in childcare settings), please complete this form to be added to the course via Canvas. Recently hired PSU pre-kindergarten and kindergarten teachers should wait for their district credentials and access via NCEES.

TS GOLD (Pre-Kindergarten) / NC ELI (Kindergarten)
Platform Update
As teachers, coaches, and administrators return to school and prepare for the new school year, we'd like to inform you of Teaching Strategies/NC ELI platform updates. Teaching Strategies has updated MyTeachingStrategies to "SmartTeach". SmartTeach offers an enhanced platform without altering any of the planning, teaching, or assessment workflows. Consider it a major update to the "lobby" without changing the places you go from the lobby. The navigation menu is no longer at the top of the page, it is now on the left and the ‘Family’ tab is now labeled ‘Engage’. For administrators, the administration tools are now on the left navigation and titled "manage". Although a URL redirect is in place, pre-kindergarten users should be aware that the direct URL has changed from myteachingstrategies.com to app.teachingstrategies.com. Kindergarten teachers, coaches, and administrators who access NC ELI via NCEdCloud SSO are unaffected by the URL change.
To find out more about SmartTeach, once logged into the platform, open The Hub, and then select SmartTeach is Now Live! beneath the Updates from Teaching Strategies section.

OEL LETRS® Make-Up/Sustainability Sessions
In an effort to simplify, we have updated the OEL LETRS Calendar link below. Once a month has passed, it will be removed from the calendar, and when new months are available, they will be added; the link will remain the same.
Sustainability sessions are for educators who have a current online training platform license with Lexia LETRS.
Please note: OEL sessions are limited to 50 educators. If the session does not appear when clicking on the registration link, the session has reached capacity. Please check back often as some registrants will cancel, and a spot will open up.

For PSUs that will be using Infinite Campus in the 2024-2025 school year, Infinite Campus contains a new RtA Program screen to record the following student RtA data required for state reporting:
-
Individual Reading Plans - This category is to record when a student receives an IRP or becomes proficient and is removed from IRP status. This is not intended to create or store intervention plans. Please see the NC MTSS Framework & Infinite Campus Crosswalk for more information about intervention plans.
-
Reading Retained (Grade 3 Only) - Third graders who were non-proficient in reading only and promoted to the 4th grade through the enrollment roll forward process automatically have an enrollment record that records the promotion. After this process, the school is responsible for updating the RtA Program status to "RRET: Reading Retained (end of 3rd grade)".
-
Good Cause Exemption - This category is for recording when a student has been promoted based on a Good Cause Exemption.
