Reminder: Data Collection for PRCs 188 (Career Accelerator) and 189 (Academic Enrichment Programs)
As a reminder, PSUs are responsible for enrolling students in PRC 188 and 189 programs in Powerschool during the 23-24 school year. Please utilize the HomeBase Quick Reference Guide if you have not yet enrolled students.
Due dates for data entry are as follows:
- PRC 189- Afterschool Academic Enrichment Programs: June 30, 2024
- PRC 188- Summer Career Accelerator: August 31, 2024

Phase I Schools & Districts for Infinite Campus Transition
If you are a Phase I PSU in transition to Infinite Campus this summer, please ensure that you have entered all PRC 189 (Afterschool Academic Enrichment Programs) enrollment prior to June 30, 2024.
If you are running PRC 188 prior to June 30, 2024, please enroll all students prior to the EOY deadline (6/30/2024)
If you are not running summer programming prior to June 30, 2024, we will be providing more information about enrolling students in PRC 188 once your PSU transitions to Infinite Campus. If you have questions about this, please reach out to OLR Program Manager, Jay Johnson at jay.johnson@dpi.nc.gov
PRC 189 Survey Deadline Approaching!
PRC 189 Surveys are due on June 30th, 2024.
The End of Program Survey is a required survey. Each site should submit a survey.
For example, if you are running PRC 189 funded programs at three sites in your district you should have the administrators/coordinators/leaders of each program site complete the survey. Please refer to this guidance document to review the survey questions.
The End of Program Student Survey is optional. This survey can be distributed to the students who participate in the program at the end of the program. Please refer to this guidance document to review the survey questions.
Both surveys will close on June 30, 2024.

This session will provide a notable opportunity for researchers from around the state to engage directly with state education leaders, policymakers, and district and school practitioners about their K12 research and findings. NCDPI is most interested in conference proposals about research and evaluation studies conducted in NC public school settings since 2020. OLR Staffing Changes
In an effort to keep all stakeholders informed, we would like to let the field know that Dr. Richard Lewis, former ARP Program Administrator, has transitioned to the Office of Federal Programs (OFP) at NCDPI effective June 1. He will still be responsible for approving and amendments in CCIP for OLR PRCs (176, 177, 188, & 189) through September 30th for the Northeast, North Central, Sandhills, and Southeast Regions. Intern Introductions
Dalton Locklear hails from Shannon, NC, and is a member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. He is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) in the Master of Arts in Teaching program, and a recent graduate of UNC, now holding a degree in Human Development and Family Science. He is passionate about teaching, educational policy, equity, and the experience of Indigenous youth in the field of education. As an intern in the Office of Learning and Research, Dalton will be using his passion for teaching to highlight promising practices across North Carolina.

Sophia Luna is originally from Asheville, NC, and is currently a graduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill in their Master of Public Policy program on the Policy Design and Impact track. Having recently graduated from UNC with her B.A. in Public Policy, she plans to continue to refine her research and communication skills so she can support the state's public schools. During undergrad Sophia acted as a student policy consultant for the statewide nonprofit myFutureNC, and she served on the executive board of the student-led organization STEP@UNC to provide local public-school students with personalized campus tours. She is looking forward to her time at the DPI!

Ashlyn Kurtz is originally from Illinois, completing her B.S in Psychology (with a minor in Spanish) from Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Ashlyn then went on to complete her M.A in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology from East Carolina University. Graduating in May of 2024, Ashlyn also holds two certificates in Quantitative Methods for the Social and Behavioral Sciences and Leadership in Organizations. She is very passionate about the work she is completing with the Department of Public Instruction having firsthand experience teaching herself. She is excited to learn more about qualitative data and will be supporting the NCTWC survey this summer. In the future, Ashlyn will continue her education by enrolling in the University of Akron's (I/O) Psychology PhD program starting Fall 2024.

Haley Blizzard is originally from Richlands, North Carolina, and is a recent graduate from East Carolina University. While earning her master's in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, she additionally pursued two graduate certificates in Quantitative Methods for the Social and Behavioral Sciences and Leadership in Organizations. Throughout the summer, Haley will be supporting the efforts of the Teacher Working Conditions Survey and looks forward to contributing to the implementation of research projects within NCDPI related to learning recovery.

Neil Sharma is from Greensboro, NC, and is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, studying education policy. Having recently graduated from UNC with his B.A. in Public Policy, his career interests include post-secondary and K-12 education, and understanding how AI will affect NC classrooms. He also wishes to focus on revitalizing 2-year college pathways that support continuing education mechanisms for non-traditional students like himself. As a UNC undergrad, Neil completed his capstone project with the NC Community College Foundation, and also served as student Director of Academic Affairs to promote learning accessibility within his college. Neil is excited to learn more about quantitative data analysis this summer at NCDPI and is passionate about implementing research projects that aid student learning recovery.

Stephanie Pett is originally from Hingham, MA, and is a current student at Duke University getting her Master in Public Policy and her Master in Business Administration (expected 2026). Before attending Duke, Stephanie taught 7th grade math in Charlotte, NC with Teach for America. Stephanie was a double major in political science and theatre performance in her undergraduate degree at Fordham University. This summer, Stephanie will be working with the Office of Learning and Research, and is excited to combine her understanding of education from her experience as a classroom teacher with state level experience at NCDPI.
