A+ Schools of North Carolina: The nation’s longest-running, most successful whole-school transformation model
It’s a great time to become an A+ school! Recent legislative funding for A+ Schools of North Carolina is supporting the continued growth of our network of more than 60 A+ schools across the state; and research on A+ implementation demonstrates impressive results in teacher retention, school growth, student proficiency, and narrowing the achievement gap.
Through individualized A+ professional development and ongoing support, schools in the A+ network build creative, engaging learning environments in which students master the state standards and strengthen the competencies that define the portrait of an N.C. graduate—all while enjoying school!
A+ Schools of NC is now recruiting schools for summer 2025! Below is relevant information about the A+ entry process for summer 2025 and the upcoming Letter of Intent deadline.
The next step in our entry process is the submission of a Letter of Intent (available as a word document on our website), which shares with us your interest in learning more and potentially applying to enter the A+ network for summer 2025. The letter of intent, due by May 31st, is not a commitment, but it helps us to provide more personalized support for schools that are serious about learning more in preparation for A+ entry. In order to be considered for entry into the A+ Schools of NC network next summer, a Letter of Intent Form must be received by 5pm on Friday, May 31st. The entire process for preparing to enter the A+ Schools network is detailed in the New A+ Schools Entry Process document.
Learn More & Help Your Staff Make an Informed Decision
The materials listed below will help you and your staff learn more about becoming an A+ School. Remember that you must achieve agreement from a minimum of 85% of your certified staff and administrative team that A+ is a good fit for your school. You also must have a minimum of 85% of your certified staff and admin team in attendance at the A+ Summer Institute that will take place July 14-18, 2025, in Raleigh.

North Carolina's Vision for Comprehensive Arts Education
In today's globally competitive world, innovative thinking and creativity are essential for all school children. High quality, standards-based instruction in the arts develops these skills and effectively engages, retains, and prepares future-ready students for graduation and success in an entrepreneurial economy. Dance, music, theatre arts, and visual arts, taught by licensed arts educators and integrated throughout the curriculum, are critical to North Carolina's 21st century education.
