TESOL PD

A Complex Journey: Multilingual Learners & Trauma

A virtual event planned by the NC Central Regional Representative for Carolina TESOL. This is an opportunity for classroom teachers, ESOL educators, administrators, etc. to learn about the intersectionality of multilingual learners, complex trauma and the classroom. Attendees will be able to hear from the following presenters: Sofia Moyano-Kleckner, a licensed clinician with the Center for Child and Family Health, on the various levels of trauma; Kelly Paolini, DPS educator, on creating a culturally responsive and empathetic classroom; Mayra Morales-Scott, Carolina TESOL NC Central Representative, on collaborating with community partners. Also, Dr. Jennifer C. Mann, Carolina TESOL NC Advocacy Coordinator, will share some information on advocacy efforts for our Multilingual Learners in NC.

Our wish is for educators to take this time to gain some insight about the complex journey that a majority of our MLs undergo and draw inspiration to integrate into their curriculums, decision-making policies, and community discussions.

This event is FREE to all interested educators and community stakeholders. This form will close on Tuesday, May 28th at 5:00 PM. This event will be held virtually via Zoom from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 30th. The Zoom link will be emailed separately.

Door prizes will be awarded to the first 10 Carolina TESOL members who register AND attend! If you do not attend, door prize will be given to next attendee. Become a member!
