Summer Conference 2024

 

Interested in learning more about working with ML Newcomers? Register for one of the sessions below.

Essentials For Teaching Newcomers (SIOP with a Newcomers Lens) - This course will progress through the 8 components of the SIOP Model with the lens of teaching newcomers or emergent bilinguals. Participants will learn each component and its features with application opportunities geared towards meeting the needs of our multilingual learners just being introduced to the English Language. This is a two and a half day session - space is limited, sign up now.

 

We are also offering a 90-minute session on the same topic to include Cultivating Newcomer Success through Collaboration with Content Teachers and Strategies and Collaboration to Support Newcomers.

Have you been curious to learn more about GLAD - Guided Language Acquisition Design for MLs?

Here is your opportunity to learn! 

Grow with GLAD - Take a two and a half day deep dive into the Project GLAD - create and build your instructional units by weaving in GLAD strategies.  The session will be part of the 2024 Growing Success for MLs conference in the West.  

 

For those who want to register for multiple sessions on different topics, try the Project GLAD session instead. Come and participate in six strategies that will raise the quality and quantity of academic discourse in your classroom. Get the highlights in a 90-minute session and learn strategies for guided oral practice.

Growing Success for MLs Conference

NCDPI requests PSUs to financially support individuals attending the conference for their professional development. We recognize some PSUs may have limited funding to send participants. The ML/Title III team has allocated limited sponsorship funds for interdisciplinary teams from areas of high need with limited teacher training options.
