Join us for a webinar to discuss the critical need for supporting multilingual learners (ML) within Advanced Placement (AP) and Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) programs. Multilingual students bring unique perspectives and talents to our educational communities, yet they often face barriers in accessing advanced coursework. Join the AIG, ML/Title III, and School Counselor Teams for a special webinar on ML's academic growth and success in secondary schools. During the webinar, we will explore practical strategies and best practices aimed at fostering inclusion and success for MLs in AIG and AP programming.

ELD Recognition Award (ERA)

he ERA acknowledges and celebrates the demonstrated excellence exhibited by ESL educators in their teaching practices. Through this recognition, the NCDPI ML/Title III team seeks to highlight and honor the significant impact these professionals have on multilingual learners across the state.

 

Eligibility

  • The nominee must be an ESL Teacher
  • Evidence of excellence in ML instructional practices must be presented
  • An ESL Teacher may be nominated by a colleague, administrator, or supervisor
  • The nomination materials must be received on or before the specified date indicated on the nomination form

Timeline

  • March 1-15, 2024 PSU opens call for nominees
  • March 18 - 22, 2024 Nominees notified and sent Portfolio Packet
  • April 26, 2024 Nominee submission deadline for Portfolio Packet
  • April 29 - May 17, 2024 Nominees vetted by the PSU
  • May 17, 2024 Deadline to submit Nominee to NCDPI ML/Title III Team via nomination form

The NCDPI ML/Title III Team will convene a committee to review PSU nominees. The top three nominees will be notified by May 31, 2024. The ERA recipient will receive the award during the ML/Title III Conference closest to their PSU.
