ADOPTION OF NEW STANDARDS
In August 2022, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Office of Academic Standards’ team kicked off the review phase for K-12 Guidance Essential Standards. Our standards will follow the NC Standard Course of Study Manual in terms of process and timeline.
The Data Review Committee made a final recommendation to adopt the ASCA Student Standards as the new standards at the State Board of Education meeting. The State Board of Education voted at the December meeting for the approval of the adoption of the ASCA Student Standard to replace the current NC Guidance Essential Standards. The new standards will be called the North Carolina Student Success Standards. More information is to come with the timeline for shifting to these new state standards for school counselor for the 2024-25 school year and beyond.
