Spaces Open for Collaboration Practices and Potentialities

September 20th Deadline

Join us for the Collaboration Practices and Potentialities Course Offering, a 1 day in-person workshop + online resources!

 

This hybrid workshop will:

  • Investigate practices that support language development and equitable instruction through teacher collaboration, student collaboration, and leadership support. Participants will have access to tools and resources to support a plan for collaboration that promotes language development for multilingual learners.
  • Examine teacher collaborative practices that support students’ content learning integrating language development.
  • Explore student collaboration connected to the third space and student agency for language development.
  • Identify practices for school Leaders to implement support for teacher and student collaboration.

Nurturing Speaking Growth

This virtual workshop is designed to support all K-12 educators who would like to explore the connection between the ACCESS Speaking Test and classroom practices that promote oral language development.


Join collegues across the state as you explore the underpinnings of the Speaking Test. Participants will are expected to engage in activities that provide ways to nurture students’ speaking growth.

 

This workshop is unique in that participants will be asked to speak and share ideas with colleagues during the webinars. By engaging in the workshop, participants will apply the underpinnings of the Speaking Assessment to classroom practice and connect the Key Language Uses to instructional practices in speaking

Ready to Learn More About Writing with Multilingual Learners?

Join WIDA and the NCDPI ML/Title III team as we host two face-to-face professional development sessions on writing instruction that supports the use of the Teaching and Learning Cycle as a way to empower multilingual writers.  Not only will we look at how to produce successful academic writing,  participants also learn ways to teach students how to communicate effectively for a variety of purposes and different audiences. Content teachers are encouraged to attend!

 

This is the second year that WIDA will be coming to NC to present these workshops. According to last year's attendees, the sessions were "empowering" and "eye-opening."  

 

Space is limited. Please register when you have approval from your district or school to attend.  Once you register, you will receive an email confirming your spot in the session or you will be notified that you are on a wait list.

Writing with Multilingual Learners in the Secondary Grades | 2 Days - Raleigh, NC
