The Carolina Journal Alex Baltzegar | Sept. 13, 2023: Budget negotiations are in a weird place - House Republicans announced on Tuesday that they will not hold any more votes this week and plan to come back to Raleigh next week. The state budget, originally expected to be finalized by the end of June, has fallen victim to differing House and Senate priorities. At this point, Republican leaders are unlikely to reach an agreement this month.

Funds are available to provide transportation assistance to schools visiting the NC Museum of History for the 2023-24 school year. This grant program allows children from qualifying schools across the state to visit the museum in Raleigh.
While there are a variety of factors taken into account for the awarding of the funds, priority will be given to Title I and Title VII American Indian schools, schools with a high percentage of low-income or at-risk students, public schools bringing a minimum of 30 students, and schools who have not previously received grant funding from the North Carolina Museum of History.
Learn more and apply here by September 22.
