Monthly Standards Update -- 22-23 SY 11th Issue

In March 2021, the North Carolina State Board of Education unanimously approved the 2020 ELD Standard Course of Study (SCOS) for implementation in the 2022-2023 school year.  

In an effort to keep stakeholders informed during the Initial Implementation phase, the NCDPI ML/Title III Team provides monthly standards updates that contain the latest announcements and current news regarding the ELD SCOS. These updates are sent every first Tuesday of the month.

PSU Leaders' Guide to ELD Standards Implementation View this Resource in the ELD Standards Resource Hub! The purpose of this document is to provide local leaders with guidance for sequencing educator professional learning on the English Language Development (ELD) Standards and provide resources for implementing the recommended professional learning sequence. Whether PSUs are just embarking on ELD standards implementation or well on their way to full implementation,  PSUs are encouraged to adapt this sequence based on the readiness of their educators.   Explore this resource!

LIS Learning Series: Literacy Instruction Standards in ELD

Throughout the 2022-2023 school year, this series of professional learning involved multiple content areas. This series focused on integrating the Literacy Instruction Standards (LIS) into standards-aligned instruction.  The LIS are to be used by all teachers in every content area for core instruction.   These sessions are open to K-12 educators. View recordings from previous sessions.
