Introduction to LinguaFolio Training

The Professional Learning Booklet for 2022 - 2023, available as a PDF or as a Google doc so you can make your own copy, includes the Introduction to LinguaFolio self-paced Canvas course, which is worth 10 contact hours or 1 CEU. This training focuses on how to implement LinguaFolio, a formative assessment tool for language learners, in all types of language learning programs and classrooms (DL/I, classical languages, ESL, heritage languages, modern languages, etc.).

Instructions on how to enroll in the Canvas course are in the booklet, along with encouragement to design a schedule that keeps you on track with the 2022 - 2023 asynchronous professional learning overall.

The Semester I archives from the January 12, 2023 Synchronous Meetup are now available:

Additional details are on the Professional Development page of the LF4NC Canvas Hub and the Apply & Reflect activities from Semester I are ongoing in the #GoOpenNC group, LinguaFolio for North Carolina.

Twitter Chat Archives & Slow Chat

On Tuesday, February 21, the monthly Twitter chat from the Teacher Network Leadership Team at #Together4MLs featured LinguaFolio for NC: Promoting portfolios, self-assessment, and reflection in language learning. They discussed the questions below and you can see what was shared on the Wakelet archive.

  1. How do you incorporate self-assessment for students to reflect on their language goals?
  2. How do you or could you use the "How Do I Learn?” component to plan learning with your students?
  3. What kind of “Language Activities” do you have students use in the classroom?
  4. How do you use the “Intercultural Encounters” component to develop SEL competencies in your language students?

If you'd like to contribute to this conversation, go to the February Slow Chat in the #GoOpenNC group, Teacher Network #Together4MLs.
