North Carolina State Board of Education Statement of Support for Increased Teacher Pay
The North Carolina State Board of Education supports the substantial investment in teacher pay in access of 10% for all teachers, as well as investments in beginning teacher pay to make North Carolina the leader in the Southeastern United States.
WUNC 91.5 Liz Schlemmer | March 2, 2023: State education board calls for pay raise of at least 10% for all public school teachers - Across-the-board raises to teacher pay would require support from the North Carolina General Assembly. Republican Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who also serves on the state board of education, said he would support teacher raises. “We're seeing huge surpluses in our budget every year. So the money's there,” Robinson said.

H166: American Indians Graduating with Honors Act. (PCS)

Bill Summary - would allow any student who is enrolled, or is eligible to be enrolled, in a State or federally recognized Indian Tribe to wear objects of cultural significance as part of the graduation regalia to the student's graduation ceremony from any public school. The Proposed Committee Substitute (PCS) would define objects of cultural significance as bird feathers and plumes and make other conforming changes.
