Throughout the 2022-2023 school year, there will be a series of professional learning involving multiple content areas. The LIS are to be used by all teachers in every content area for core instruction. This
series will focus on integrating the Literacy Instruction Standards (LIS) into standards-aligned content area instruction. These sessions are open to K-12 educators.

In collaboration with the NCDPI Arts Education Team, this session will specifically address Literacy within both the elementary and secondary classrooms in Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts. This webinar will be the beginning of a PD series specifically designed to address Literacy Processes Inherent to Arts Education.

The middle column contains an instructional example of the LIS. The right column is the glossary. The purpose of this document is to provide instructional examples that incorporate practices from each LIS for each grade-band.
