Technology and Library Directors’ ReConnect Meeting

 

We are excited to share that the NC Department of Public Instruction's Office of the CIO and Digital Teaching & Learning, in partnership with NCCoSN, NCTIES, and NCET, are hosting the annual State Technology Directors’ Meeting, Spring 2023 Re|Connect, for district level and charter library media and technology directors on March 8, 2023, at the NCTIES conference.  

This meeting is intended to provide directors with updates about statewide initiatives, collaboration with colleagues, and opportunities to learn from each other as we build professional learning networks. This year, we will gather in Room 305A/B of the Raleigh Convention Center from 1-4:30.

HBMU FEB

February 2023 Home Base Meet Ups

Mark your calendars for Home Base Meet Ups Feb. 6-9, 2023.  HBMUs will be regionally based, face-to-face for networking, sharing of information, and learning. 

 

Registration Link. Registrants will be emailed detailed site information closer to meeting dates..

 

The Home Base Team will begin the HBMUs in the western part of the state and travel east throughout the week.  Meeting dates and locations are listed below:

  • Feb. 6 - NW/W - Wilkes Co. - Wilkes County Schools -613 Cherry Street, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659
  • Feb. 7 - PT/SW - Randolph Co. - Randolph CC - 413 Industrial Park Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27205
  • Feb. 8 - NC/Sandhills - Bladen County - Bladen CC- 7418 NC Hwy 41W, Dublin, NC 28332
  • Feb 9 - NE/SE - Martin County - Innovation Campus - 411 East Blvd., Williamston, NC 27892

All meetings will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.  You are free to attend any of the meetings according to your availability and proximity. 

Meeting Goals:

  • Foster positive, productive field-based relationships with stakeholders
  • Elicit feedback from the field to inform state-level decision makers
  • Provide coordination between different DPI-based groups that serve end-users of Home Base Products
  • Communicate product-specific information to PSU personnel

Targeted Audience:

  • PSU lead contacts for PowerSchool, Schoolnet, Canvas, Learning.com, #GoOpenNC, and NCEES

NCVirtual Beyond the Basics: Effective Online Teaching and Content Development Virtual Professional Development

The course “Beyond the Basics: Effective Online Teaching and Content Development” is part of Teacher Online Training 2 (TOT2), NCVirtual's free professional development program designed as a follow-up to the ToT1 Introduction Course. This course will focus on the digital teaching and learning strategies critical to effective online teaching and content development.

It is recommended to complete the “An Introduction to Online Teaching and Content Development” (TOT1) course or have previous basic knowledge of online teaching and learning before taking it. A pre-assessment is provided at the beginning of this course to help determine if TOT2 is appropriate for you.

DLI Grants

The 2023-2024 Digital Learning Initiative Grants are open for applications The two Requests for Proposals include the reformulated Digital Learning Impact Grant and a Mini-Grant which will include an opportunity for a Professional Learning Grant as well as an Emerging Technologies Grant.

 

Grant proposals must be submitted to this form by February 28, 2023 at 5:00pm. The DLI Grant Initiatives were approved on December 1, 2022, by the North Carolina State Board of Education. As specified in the Digital Learning Plan, this grant program is intended to support the development and dissemination of local innovative digital teaching and learning across North Carolina. NCSLMA Winter Tune Up

 

SLMCs are invited to register for NCSLMA's Winter Tune Up virtual mini-conference, which is coming February 13-17!  Once again, the NCSLMA Board is excited to offer both pre-recorded and live sessions led by expert presenters FREE for NCSLMA members.
